Wonderful work on your car Celia! I'm doing the same to mine, waiting on Mike to send me the parts, and am trying the headlight surrounds. Your car would look fine with my spoiler. Sounds like you are having fun.

No problem but be sure to post some pictures when you get those new side markers on so we can all check them out!

But that's the whole idea! To tempt others to do cool things with their Minis too

You and Mark definitely need to come by whenever you guys have a chance! We'll do a whole Mini and Reptile thing!

Thanks Flaco! I'm really looking at that splitter that you have. It looks GREAT on your car! I just need to find out if it would possibly fit on the HyperSport body kit though...

Thanks,
Celia

Looks good, but I've got to be honest I prefer a tasteful amount of chrome.

Total ?

Great job Celia, you seem to having fun ! I just read your "Mini Story" and it was entertaining. If you don't mind me asking, how much $$ do you have tied up in the car to date? It is one of the most unique Minis I have ever seen !

Well...the license plate frame is still chrome but as soon as I find one to replace it, it'll be gone too

I know! At first, I had only order the door handles and the gas cap but the more I thought about it, the more I knew I had to get the side markers too. I had already spent some money on custom side markers from CooperGear.com but they didn't match my JCW CF stuff. I'm really glad I decided to get the side markers because all this stuff is awesome!

Man, I know...the waiting process always kills me!

Oh jeez...I don't even WANT to think about that number LOL! I don't have an exact figure, but if I had to guess, I would say it would be somewhere in the $8,000 to $8,500 range on aftermarket parts and mods. I believe the car was around $32,500 from the dealer with the options we chose. SO...if you look at it, all in all, we're looking at a hair over $40k for the Mini as it is and looks now. Whew! That's bad LOL!

I can honestly say though, if I went out with a budget of $40k for a car there really wouldn't be any other car I would want!! This Mini is totally, exactly what I want with customization to the core!

Thanks,
Celia

^^ very true!! There is probably no other car out there that allows such detailed personalization. Your MINI in particular is an inspiration to us all!!.... well at least to me!! Keep it up!

question

wow, that car looks hot as hell. I have a quick question about the side markers though. Your CF side marker doesn't have the red "S" on it, yet the one advertised on the AC website has one (http://www.aestheticreations.net/carbonfiberparts.htm). So say I order some CF side markers from them, do they give me a choice between a side marker with an "S" on it and a standard one? I'm confused because there doesn't seem to be any options to choose on the website. Thanks...

Awesome car.

You have done an incredible job! The one mod that really makes it amazing is the painted wheel arches, IMHO. They really stood out before, when they were black.

Keep us posted with your next projects.

Thanks...I'll keep my eye out for you! Maybe we'll meet one day at one of the GSM meets! I usually can't make them though because they're on Saturdays a I have to work. Maybe someone will put a Monday run together (that's the only day I have off)!

That's actually a funny story. When I got the side markers in, the "S" was on upside down so I removed them and was planning on turning them right side up and reattaching them (with some 3M spray glue). However, once we got them off, I really liked how it looked without the S so I just left them off! I saved them just in case I change my mind down the road. Mike also said he would mail me a new set of S emblems with the blue "S" decal (which was what I had originally ordered) if I ever change my mind. But right now, I'm really digging the badge-lessness

I'm sure if you didn't want the S on there, Mike could leave them off for you.

I agree! I think the painted fenders really bring the car together, especially because I have the Hypersport body kit. I really like the way the Hypersport kit looks although I know there are many out there who don't like it. I personally like the Hypersport rear end more than the JCW Aero kit rear.

However, I didn't like how the wheel arches seemed to just come to a complete stop and didn't look integrated into the rest of the car. So, painted fenders were very high on my list of things to do/get! I think they are definitely worth the investment

Now ever since you mentioned this, I have been really toying with the idea. I talked to my husband about it and he really likes the way the Joey mod looks too but we're just a little nervous about doing it.

I went through and searched for a bunch of old threads on Joey mods and came across yours (and your headlights look awesome BTW). So after some reading, discussion and consideration, I think we're going to do it!

(You and this forum are evil for giving me all these ideas of things to do to my Mini! j/k)

BUT, I think I'm going to try something a little different. I saw someone on NAM do a Joey mod on their electric blue Mini in a two-tone color - black and EB. I really liked how it came out so I'm thinking of doing the same with mine. I just ordered the Laser Blue paint so I'll have about a week or so to really read up on the Joey mod details...

We shall see!

Thanks,
Celia

In reference to the "runs" they have at GSM...from browsing the site, it looks like they only have like 4-8 mini's on any given run, so maybe we could organize at least a 3 car run on your day off. My schedule is weird too. I have off on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Of course, I need my car first!

p.s.- after reading your story I was able to get Brian Harris to throw in a carbon fiber hood scoop along with my floor mats! Thanks!!!

Very amazing look. Congrats.

Now it's time for mini to get the idea that not everyone is into chrome, and make it a little easier to get blacked out cars.

That is one of the best looking MINIs I have ever seen! The details are great. You also have one of the best sub enclosures I've seen build for a MINI.

Great Work!

Thanks! I love my sub box! A lot of people think it's a boot shelf or boot mat in my little signature picture LOL.

Thanks Sharon! We did all the installation ourselves (my husband and I). All the blackout stuff came from either Lyle at VinylStyles or Mike at Aesthetic Creations.

Thanks for the compliment on the hair too! It's fading right now so it's about time to get it redone. I'm thinking maybe emerald green this time. It was purple and then the pink you see in the photos. Now it's a really light pink.

Thanks,
Celia
