LOOK GREAT. I wonder how the Carbon Fiber gascap and door handles would look on my Mellow yellow MCS? I wonder if I should save my pennies.

How exactly did they door handles go on they just snapped over the existing chrome ones?

I think they would look great on your Mellow Yellow MCS but then again I think they would look great on any Mini

The door handles have heavy-duty double sided foam like tape on the inside. All you have to do is make sure your chrome handles are cleaned off, peel the stickers off the inside of the CF door handle, and stick them on.

How did you "pop them out"? What is the procedure? Thanks! Looks great!

Sorry to be a pain, but how? By hand? Screwdriver? Where do you pry? From the front, the back, the bottom? Does the base stay and the chrome part comes off? Or do both come off then you separate the chrome piece? Chance of breaking clips? Etc.?

I want to remove the chrome part for a project, but still re-use it, so I don't want to damage it in any way.

Thanks!

Oh actually when I removed mine I removed the entire assembly. I don't honestly know whats entailed with just removing the chrome piece.

That being said, you basically grab it wherever you can get a good grip, and pull it towards the bonnet. It slides out of position and pops right off

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but MINI certainly made it 10x easier to dechrome the R56 than the R53, especially regarding the headlight rings.

Didn't read through the entire thread so if it's already been noted, consider this reinforcement: The carbon fiber/black out really makes those orange calipers PP !!

Nicely done, Celia.

If you don't mind saying, what did each of the 3 new pieces cost you:

gas cap
side marker
door handle

Nice looking mini.

And the cheapskate in me wants to remind you that someone with a Cooper who changed out to a white lens would probably give you the orange one (or you could easily do a straight trade)

That's exactly how you removing the entire housing which is what you want to do first. Once you have the black housing off, if you look at the inside of it, you will see three clips where the chrome piece attaches to it. You can take a screwdriver and gently pop the chrome off of the black housing. I don't have any photos of this but I did take a few quick pictures of the chrome housing by itself for you so you get a general idea of what I'm talking about...

It's not hard to do at all. You just want to be careful you don't break the tabs off if you're planning on reusing it.

Thanks,
Celia

Yep, you're right !

I have two orange side marker lenses that are free for the asking. I'll even pay for the shipping just because I'm a nice guy.

BUT... are the side marker lenses the same or did they change those along with the marker housing ? Mine are off my 06 Cooper.

Thank You! I felt the same way too. When I stand back and look I think the orange parts REALLY stand out now!

Nice looking mini.
Is it okay to list that here? If so:

Gas Cap - $250 with a $40 core fee refund when you send your chrome one back
Side Marker - $100
Door Handle - $200 (this is for the Convenience package door handles, I think the regular door handles are a little cheaper)

You would have to confirm those prices with Mike. I believe he's also offering the headlight and taillight rings in Carbon Fiber too for anyone interested in those!

Thanks,
Celia

Oh man! I don't know if they are the same or not but if so, I'll definitely take those! I'm going to send you a PM right now...

Sweet!!! Definitely one of the best looking MINIs around and you've really proved that the hyper sport shouldn't be looked over.

Thanks!!!! I have some special order side vent vinyl (Union Jack in Black/ChiliRed/Dark Silver) coming from Aesthetic Creations and this will help with applying them.

I don't even have to mention how ridiculously gorgeous your car is Celia - you've already heard it enough! You need to stop giving me all these dang ideas!! lol Now I'm thinking of asking the guy around here who does custom vinyl if he works with any carbon fiber. The texturing is just too nice. Mark and I will most assuredly have to motor down that way one of these days and get a closer look.
