Program to sound when lock/unlock

I saw in the owners manual that you can program the car to sound upon lock and unlock but when I try this it does not have the option to do so.

Anyone else set this function?

Although the manual mentions it, the feature is actually only available if you have the OEM alarm system. Had me confused as well initially.
Almost reason enough in itself for me to get the alarm. Not having a sound confirmation when I lock the doors really bugs me. Makes me doubt whether they're actually locked or not. I'm OCD though...

Sound confirmation? You can't hear those 4 actuators slamming the locks down? I can hear mine lock through the garage wall inside my house. Beeping or honking when locking and unlocking is annoying to many.

There have been instructions posted on how to wire a backup alarm (you know, "beep beep beep" you hear from trucks) onto one of the locks wiring to make a beep when locking. You could use two of them to have it beep when locking and unlocking.

Funny... my old car used to beep when I locked the doors, and I found it annoying. Flashing the lights is good enough for me!

thanks for saving me a trip to my dealer. I tried to change my settings to beep and flash for over 1/2 hour yresterday and could not figure out why it would not work.

That is the second error I have found in their "manual". The bluetooth programming commands are also WRONG.
