R56 Porsche "Turbo" Emblem On a MINI?
you better go rip it off and replace it with some speed holes.
REMEMBER S doesn't stand for Supercharged. Back in the day Cooper wanted Sport and Issignus wanted Special. Or maybe that is backwards. They settled on S.
So to say MINI Cooper T is like putting a Red H badge on any honda or a type R badge on any nissan. Or worse yet a SS badge on a cheby or a flaming chicken on a firebird.

The one who started it crashed hard in flames.
But in a tad less detail assuming most do their historical research so they can be properly prepare to answer questions form the public at those parking lot crowds that form

With all the debate in several of those threads that popped up, I was amazed those weren't mentioned here already. Some got way to support the mother company some got the poser some got the each to his own. Kinda like much of this thread.
It's also a pet peeve of mine to see thousands of dollars in 'upgrades' on a car that goes from home-work-grocery store. But, if you're going to mod it and TRACK it... then YES! Please do.
Sequence, the emblem was put on the Prius as a joke, but you have to admit the idea of a turbo Prius is fun! I mean, the point of a Prius is fuel economy so turbocharging it makes no sense.......hence the joke! Plus, it makes people wonder............Anyway, the point of the emblem is no different than any other mod like stripes or trim or anything else, it's just youification"..........
I say go for it, there's room on the planet for all of us...........
Oh, and it is real, it belongs to a friend of mine.............that is, the emblem is real!

Plea as U might, it's still lame lame lame. If y're out for "youification" of yr MINI, then keep it MINI. Otherwise, it's all meaningless and LAME rice. :impatient
A funny emblem is better than something that tries to strut like a Turbo emblem.
"Pull to Inflate", "Dog's Bullocks", "Actual Size", and vendor stickers allowed; even the chrome nekkid-lady cut-out is okay.
"Turbo", "Supercharged", or other boast is a sad cry for status.

WOW!
I had no idea this simple topic would elicit so many responses. I have typically cleaned up my cars in the past by debadging, but a friend at work has a turbo beetle and the emblem looked like a Porsche badge. So I figured someone here has probably added one to a MINI. [As a side bar, I'd describe my personal style as "cleaner than stock".
I gotta say though that this thread sure brought a lot of hypocrits to the forefront: people claiming that if it doesn't increase speed it's lame.... Uh, huh...
Racing stripes, color matched fenders, wheels, wings, graphics, stickers, personalized plates, colored brake rotors, need I go on?
I have said in the past posts that I can't stand a car that looks like its been dragged through a JC Whitney catalog....but to each his own.
Just remember that if everyone's car looked as good as yours, then your car would look just like everyone elses. It the famous "you can't have good without evil" argument.

I got my turbo badges from Acura Dealer, they are off of an RDX Turbo, I think the font looks good and they are not too big
I generally don't like badges, but on this car it seams to be a conversation starter, most people don't have a clue about the performance of a Mini, they just think it's some cute little girl car, which is one of the reasons why I put the turbo badges on there.
One guy at work was making comments to that effect, so I invited him for a ride in my Turbo S JCW. We work in an industrial complex that is pretty deserted at night, it has a couple of S bends and a nice long straight away. soooooo he got in the car and I said, see that handle above your head, your going to need that. lets just say, he's had a change of heart
PS: he actually told me the other day that he was thinking of ordering one

Then you give them a taste and they either giggle like morons for an hour or puke out your window. Either way, you win. They bow before you when they approach, kneel when you enter the room.
There's a certain amount of pubescent joy in the act of flicking your high-beams in the rearview of a Mustang GT to pass in the twisties and catching a glimpse of their startled disbelief in that mirror...
To me, a turbo emblem detracts from the moment. It's like having Superman on display all day and never letting Clark Kent have his moments.
People dis the Mini and make rolling-eye gestures. "Sure it's quick, sure..."

All this talk reminds me of a VW Beetle I saw one time. On the back the owner had placed one of those "whiptastic handling" sticker/badges that MINI came out with a couple years ago. As soon as I saw it I thought the owner must be a wanna be MINI owner.
Again, to each their own. Diversity is a beautiful.
Just as long as you realize that when people see your turbo emblem they're thinking "******" if they have a Mini --- no matter what they say to your face...
Minirabbit's execution seems pretty damn tasteful. I kind of cringed when I thought of it actually being done. Not my personal taste, but pretty damn nice compared to what I envisioned.
And the turbo beetle owners have the double cover of it being put on at the factory (or the dealer, I am not sure), plus VW has had a pretty strong relationship with Porsche over the years.

I have the Porsche Turbo badge. You can also see it on my web site by clicking the link in my signature header.
I think OutMotoring sells Turbocharged.
I got mine from Mini Mania.

Took my "CooperS" emblem off for the purely cosmetic boot stripe mod. Not putting it back on. I think it looks better without the emblems.
As for this being a "rice" mod, I disagree. The car has a turbo, "rice" only applies when the sticker or mod is for something not in the car.
Do what you want to your car. Screw everybody else.

And I don't even have a turbo badge on my car...
I do have the bonnet and boot stripes along with an actual size sticker though, pretty sure they're not adding performance.
Do what you want, that is one the great thing about Minis, almost unlimited aftermarket companies and opportunities to make the car an extension of you, both inside and out.
Putting a "turbo" badge on your turbo S is really no different than an American pretending to be British by using terms like ******, bollocks, boot, bonnet, "safety fast", etc... Or pretending to be a "stealth" racer to sneak up on Scions or Accords!
It's all for fun, right?
