Wheel size: 15" vs. 16"

Aside from regular vs. run-flat, what difference in driving (handling, noise, comfort, etc.) will one tire size have over another? I'm considering getting the Sport Package on the Clubman, only to have what I consider to be a more attrractive wheel (sport seats will be nice, I suppose; not sure about the need for sport suspension, but I digress).

15" or 16"? Discuss!

Thanks!

In theory, the smaller the wheel on a MINI, the taller the sidewall. A taller side wall will generally absorb bumps better, but have slower/less responsive turn-in.

I like the more compliant ride of the 15s. Of course the 15s are not runflats, which I also prefer. I got the all season 15s, which I'm happy with

Smaller wheels are lighter. As I have learned from swapping out my OEM Bridgespokes w/Runflats for 16" OZ Ultraleggeras with non runflats, reducing unsprung rotational mass on a car as lightweight as the MINI makes a major difference in handling and suspension performance. (I dropped about 14 lbs per corner). The stock suspension can control the lighter wheel/tire unit far better than it does the heavier stock setup, thus obviating the need for sport suspension (unless you're into racing or ultimate performace). If you can find 15" wheels which will fit over the MCS brakes, I would seriously consider fitting them. Otherwise 16" wheels are the best compromise in terms of weight, sidewall height and looks, in my view.

I'm assuming the OP was talking about the MC clubman, not the MCS clubman which does not come with 15s.

Yep. Looking at the MC Clubman.

And for an after-market stickshift ****. Don't know about the '08 MINI, but the **** on the Clubman is poorly designed. I digress, again.
