I basically wanted a basic MCS, and wanted to mod it myself. If I could have gotten it without any radio/sound system, I would have. My only regret, as I bought off of the lot, was not getting LSD. This car came with the premium package which is very nice but the LSD would have been the total ticket for me.

I love the dark silver, and I like it with the dark silver top. Black top would have been okay too. I'm not a red/blue type of MINI lover, but I have grown very partial to the PW/B. That color begs for red trim, calipers,......etc. The red reflectors look so hot on the PW not to mention black rims!

I also could not imagine driving one of these with an automatic tranny! Gotta have the 6 speed, IMHO! Good luck!

This surprises me. That is an option I did not go for because I truly can't see the need and the missing toggle doesn't bother me. I'm curious to hear just how it has come in handy?

Well one often considers "fogs" only useful for fog...but they are also spectacular in heavy rain events, too, where visibility is low. We had lots of big rains here this year and I used the rear fog more than I ever thought I would. I felt like an F1 car w/ that thing on!!!

I hadn't considered rain. Hmmm... Actually what I should have considered was dust storms in the summer! Live and learn!

Aah- "post-purchase dissonance". I feel it every day. The only way I could really afford my Cooper S was to get a stripped down one. There are dozens of add-ons I now wish I ordered, but having the MINI- and a reasonable car payment- kinda makes up for it.

Because the build quality is on par with the knowledge/customer service of the dealership. Specifically, the interior rattles even on smooth roads. The HiFi is, at best, okay. The electronics stink: doors sometimes unlock quickly, sometimes not; rear hatch will sometimes open, sometimes not; nav display changes for no reason; freeze chime warns when its 37, but not when it's actually below freezing; auto headlights come on simply from passing through the shade of a tree. Unlock the door and, for no reason, the hatch unlocks. Radio unavailable for no reason. Voice command stinks. Cannot disconnect phone calls. And to all this, the dealer claims to either not have any idea what I am talking about and just doesn't care.

Wow, some of those are just poor design/implementation on BMW's part, but some sound like faults with your system. Have you examined the lemon law in your area?

These are the exact reasons why my next MINI is going to be rather bare bones when it comes to electronic options. The only extra electronic gizmo I want is DSC.

If they offered a **** to manually roll down the windows, I would pay extra for it!

Exactly. I actually have PDC and the sensors for them look like blank black dots anyway, so if they didn't change the bumper for that it wouldn't be so bad. But IMO, not changing the bumper for MINI's without rear fogs is kinda ridiculous. Again I'm OCD, but the 'dead inserts' just look bad to me. Not to mention I'd hate to blatantly see where a feature I didn't get is MIA from.

I'll never be able to develop auto-up for that

Sad to read of all your troubles, LynnEl. Once again we see that a poor dealership makes problems much worse
