R56 Oil Question
Indeed! would love to find this stuff over here....
BMW "branded" oil is in fact Castrol Synthetic. If you look closely at your manual you will see (I can't recall exactly where) there is a statement that says something like BMW recommends Castrol Synthetic.
Regarding WHEN to do the first oil change, one of the motorcycle forums carried an interesting suggestion: change the oil after only 25 miles. Whatever benefit would come from a 600 mi. or 1,000 mi. oil change would be even greater if the bad stuff were drained out almost immediately.
My MCS is still about 6 weeks away - maybe by then I will have the nerve to ask the dealer to do a 25 mi. oil and filter change (or maybe I'll jsut do it myself).

It will cost a lot to have the dealer do it. It is pretty easy to do it yourself. There is how to thread here with photos.
Decide in your own mind after reading research, posts, and conversations when you think a oil change is needed, by keeping track of your driving style and miles. I try and do this and try not to worry about what every one suggests.

I think you ought to wait until you have at least 1000miles on the car before you do the first oil change. 25 miles barely loosens things up in the engine. 1000 to 1200 miles has been the generally accepted mileage for a first oil change by BMW experts, and I don't mean BMW AG. By 1000 to 1200 miles any small bits of metal will have been loosened and caught by the oil filter.

Which one is the requirement that states 15,000 mile interval?

It should say LL-01 or LL-04. 04 being the latest spec.

On page 2 of the PDF it states that their 5w30 oil meets the LL-01/04 specs.
