Problem With Speakers

well, i've been driving my car a lot, and i've had my bass up, but it wasn't very loud. then, yesterday, when i got back into my car, and turned on the radio, i heard crackling from one of the speakers on the driver side door. So soon after purchasing the car, should the speaker have gone out? i didn't even have it loud....

does anyone have imput on this?

There are so many possibilities. Cranking up the bass can damage speakers, for sure.

Not knowing what system you have, whether it's brand new or aging, the conditions under which the noise occurs, the quality or nature of the sound, or even which speaker the noise is coming from -- hard to offer any ideas. A loose connector can cause crackling, a bad amplifier, a cracked cone, a voice coil jumped out of or scraping its gap . . . .

Is your vehicle under warranty?

I can only speak to the non-HiFi system, but in that situation the Speakers are so patetically paper thin and "cheap", it wouldn't surprise me if one blew out.

I've gone aftermarket for my sound needs.

Take it to your dealer and let them figure it out and fix the problem.

i had this exact problem. They'll order you a new speaker. Depending on your dealership or location, it might take a while. A week after mine was installed i started to hear the crackling again. i guess it might have been a particular song on the CD i was listening to that maybe the speakers couldn't handle?who knows, i'm going aftermarket once i get tired of listening to my Alta CAI (which is never) Good luck!
