Keyless Go Comfort Access Question

I don't have it. It comes with the Convenience Package doesn't it? Am I even referring to the correct option name? (starting the car with key in your pocket or purse just by pushing start button)

The question is that my car will start without the key disc it the dash slot under certain conditions.....if I get in the car and start it normally (key in dash slot), push the button to turn car off, take the key out and then push the button again. If I leave the car, lock it and come back it won't start unless I have the key in the dash I don't get it. Can anyone enlighten me? I can understand the convenience not having to put your key in the slot but what would be the purpose of the way mine works? Thanks.

What is the time between taking the fob out of the slot and restarting? It may be that it will restart for a short period of time, but not after a longer period.

This is a guess..BUT...since you have not locked the car or pushed the stop button a second time, it still will allow engaging the starting mode. Perhaps a time related function likely to not be usable after a few minutes. You can likely operate the accesories too. Not sure why it works like that. Check with your MA...

The reason for my thoughts..I do have comfort access and the only way to fully disenage it and have everything turned off (especially the bluetooth) is to push the starter button a second time or lock the car.

from what i have read... if you pull the key out after turning the engine off, you can restart it within a certain amount of time. I think it was like under 20 secs the car will still start. That is if you dont open the doors or lock the car or something. Im not FOR SURE as i have the comfort access and i love it!

The only time I experimented with it was today and the time lag was only a few seconds. Another interesting thing was that when I pushed the button to shut the car down (without the key in the dock) the radio remained on when opened the door to get out. I ended up turning the radio off instead of messing with the ignition button again.

Still wonder why it would work this way and what would be the benefit.

Thanks for the input.

On comfort access cars, and it may be the same for all, one press of the Start/Stop button turns off the engine. The radio and other things remain on. You can get out of the car with it still playing. When you lock the door, it all turns off. If you don't lock the door, it will turn off after a period of time. I think it is 15 min. I guess the German designers assume everyone always locks their cars.
