They can only go by what's programmed into them. Obviously some software programmer failed to consider this. Or if it is set manually at the factory, someone couldn't read a calendar.
No, I'm saying that there is no way the computer can accurately predict a meaningful date without sufficient experience. So, the indicator shows a filler date until the computer can make a prediction.

I'd hazard a guess that dates aren't calculated at all, but manually entered. How would a computer know when you need to get an inspection or emissions test?

Honestly, did you actually check the toolkits on every car on the lot since February? Time to find a new hobby...

Did I say you were stupid?
All I was doing was surmising that you were misinformed as on the day before the official launch I happened to be in at Morristown waiting for service and they had the new cars in the showroom. Since I had a long wait I checked the MC and MCS' over throughly and I did see tool kits in all of them (I checked because I was interested to see if they were doing anything different in the RF v non RF cars).

I'm sorry to hear that you guys have had problems with your MA's. For whatever it's worth, all the MA's here including myself are not only mini owners but are almost addicted! LOL

I guess what I'm saying is MOST MA's are very knowlegable and do know what they are talking about. Some on the other hand.....

the car will adjust your oil change interval by using injector on time signal. so depending on how you drive it will hange the mileage interval till your next oil change. you can even let your car idle and the mileage will go down but it will take alot longer as opposed to beating on the car.

Didn't your teacher tell you in school that when you surmise, you make a 'sur' out of 'mi' and 'se'. Or something like that...

With the GenII cars just coming out this year, BMW making changes on more than a yearly basis, Euro cars differing from US ones, and 10,000,000 iterations of the car, it can't be easy. But it would be nice to hear "I'm not sure" rather than getting an answer that is wrong.

My MA didn't realize that the iPod adapter had changed in the 07's, but instead of just admitting her oversight and honoring the sales agreement, she tried to squeeze me for the price difference. And it had nothing to do with knowledge, as she owns a Classic Mini and a Gen I MINI.

In my case the dealership made good on all promises, and even gave me the toolkit that MINI blatantly refused to provide (you might notice I'm still fuming over this policy. A $30k car with no jack! WTF).

Most MAs seem to be enthusiasts, but that doesn't give them license to pass out bad information. I hope you're not among that group...

That's really odd. I was under the impression that MINI changed their policy on jacks sometime around March or April. Deliveries in May were getting jacks.

There is a lot of info to remember BUT there is nothing wrong with saying "I don't know, I'll find out for you". That's what we believe anyway.

I fact I'm STILL finding out things that I didn't know, (little things, not like the Ipod adaptor) and I've owned one for three years! LOL. A couple times the customer and I are learning together, but because of my honesty they don't mind.

I picked mine up in March. The policy was not retroactive. It was up to the dealer if they wanted to be nice. I've heard of some people that didn't get them paying >$200 for toolkits.
