spare tire and jack/toolkit??

Ok, I've tried searching thru the forum. I've also looked on the mini usa site, and could not find this info. Sorry if it has already been covered before...

Does the 2007 MINI come with a spare? I have seen one or two posts about previous model years that did NOT come with a spare. If it does include one, I would assume that it is one of the small "donuts" that can only go 45 mph?
I think I did see a production picture of a shot of the underside where a spare would go, but I can't seem to confirm this. What about a jack and toolkit?

Just want to try and make sure I get everything I'm supposed to, and be on the lookout of things to check when I eventually take delivery of my mini.

Thanks in advance.

The jack and tool kit are included with all models. The MC with the standard 15" tires (which are not run flats) comes with a spare. I am not sure if you lose the spare tire when you upgrade the MC to the 16" run flats. The MCS does not come with a spare tire.

Ditto. When I swapped out the run-flats for non, I found a "Slime" compressor and tire sealant on eBay for under $30. It seems that Slime makes a number of different products and strengths of compressors, so be sure to check them out before you bid. Fortunately I haven't had to use it yet.

So, you're saying that not only do you not get a spare tire with an '07 S, you also don't get a jack?

For me, this is exactly correct.

Ditto. For grins I was reading the manual last night, trying to figure out how to program Conv Access, and saw that there was suppose to be a toolkit in the back. I checked this morning, and no toolkit.

That's BS...You guys should definitely have a tool kit. I would complain to no end. Are you sure you guys looked under the black carpet in the boot? Mine is underneath there. Speaking of the toolkit, my MCS also came with wheel locks and the keys are with the toolkit.

My MC with 16" wheels has a full size spare. Either way I still carry my tire plugger and 12V air compressor from my under motorcycle seat kit in my boot.

If any of you MC owners haven't done so, check your spare now and then for proper air pressure [60 psi]. More importantly, the bolt securing the plate which holds the spare under the car gets really corroded with road gunk and rusts. Mine did on my Cooper, to the extent that I could not break it loose with a normal breaker bar/tire iron. I had to take the car to a tire shop, where they had to break it loose with an impact wrench. I can only imagine the problems I'd have had if the car had suffered a flat and I'd have been out in BFE.

Wow...that sucks. I would write a letter or call MINIUSA and tell them what's going on. Maybe they will help you. I don't know what else to tell you.

I feel safer knowing I also have the plugger/inflator in my boot. It also lets me help out any stranded motorers I come across.

I did not receive a jack/toolkit when my MCS was delivered on 3/10/07. I e-mailed AskMINI and this was their final response:

"Thank you for your reply regarding the Jack, Lug Wrench and Wheel Chock available on some of the 2007 MINI Cooper S models. We appreciate your interest and enthusiasm for our vehicles.

A change was made to the Jack, Lug Wrench and Wheel Chock during production. Unfortunately, these items are not standard for your MINI and will be customer purchase items at this time. MINI reserves the right to change, release, or hinder the release of a product for any number of reasons, i.e. marketing purposes, product development still underway, etc. at any time.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail. I would be happy to lend a hand."

The running change was 3/05/07, after that date the jack/toolkit in the MCS was standard.

No jack or wrench either

My MCS was delivered 3/7 and did not have the jack or wrench either. It has a foam piece for the jack and wrench, but alass they are empty. Apparently enough people complained about their absense to the point that MINI began including them again.

On a more positive note, as I've posted on another thread, I have just recently had the Multifunction Steering Wheel and 'secret' storage compartment retro fitted under warranty at no cost to me. However as I posted MINI has kind of a "Don't ask - don't tell" policy. So unless you ask for these items they are not going to tell you that they will retrofit them under warranty.

If everyone keeps asking for a jack and wrench them perhaps they will at least extend this 'policy' to those items as well. Seems pretty 'nickel and dimey' on cars that sell at MSRP.

Unfortunately the enthusiasm for the vehicles goes hand in hand with the way customers are treated. This really is a nickle and dime issue that would serve their public relations in a positive way if they simply provided these items for early purchasers.

I picked up my 07 in 2/07 and did not include a jack/tool kit but does have the nice empty foam piece. I asked several times about the jack and after 3 months was told they were not included. At the time of purchased I agreed to pay $250 for the installation of the mutli-function steering wheel that I did not pay a time of purchase. BUT I was not billed when the work was done so I will not complain about the jack.

My dealer did install the hidden storage when it was in for the steering wheel upgrade without any request by me.

I got a jack/toolkit with my MCS. The spare comes with all MC's no matter which tire wheel option you choose. The only reason it doesn't come with the MCS is because there's no where to put it.

I stand corrected. I ordered a rubber boot tray, and when I went to install it, I lifted the carpet and found the Jack Kit. So I did get one even though I have the Cooper-S with Run Flats.

I just picked up my new Cooper-S and found the tool kit and jack in the boot under the carpet. However I had to go back for my owners manual

Now I am trying to find a full size spare to keep nearby or throw in back when I travel

Motor On!

I didn't get one with my MCS (3/31/07), but I understand the policy has changed and they now come with all cars. My dealer said he would take care of it NC.

There was a period earlier in the year when the jack kit was not included with the MCS. Around April they began including it. It seems that it was up to the dealer whether previous MCS would get a jack. My MCS came with a jack. It was built in April and delivered in California in early May.

My R56 has a tool kit...

My 2007 MCS has a tool kit under the carpet. I nixed the run flats (keeping them for winter driving) with non-run flat tires and ordered a compressor and repair kit from Tire Rack.

My 2014 F56, MCS, "toolkit" in the boot under carpet is a piece of foam that came with only two items: a screwdriver and a heavy duty hook. This foam came strapped in with a velcro strap.
