R56 Comfort Access Question

I think I understand how the comfort access system works. However, I do have one question. Since the personal settings are stored on the key, and my wife keeps the spare key in her purse... which one does it go by when both keys are in the car? Do I have to use her settings (and radio presets ) if she comes into range first?

It uses whichever one it feels like. From reports here, it is sometimes difficult to tell which one it will pick up. Probably would use the first one it sees, but one would have to understand the algorithm to know for sure.

I've wondered about that also. I'd play it safe and insert the fob when your wife's along, that way your setting will definitely be in effect!

You can also use the fob to "unlock" the doors (even if they are already unlocked) and it then recognizes that fob and not the other.
Inserting it into the ignition also does the trick.

+1 .

If you don't use the remote options on the FOB to unlock the doors or if you do not insert the FOB to start it, it will remember the last one used and use the settings for it, even if the other FOB isn't in the vehicle.
