R56 Alta modification and factory warranty issues?
There is no reason for a dealer to unreasonably deny warranty. The dealer gets reimbursed for warranty work and he doesn't want a customer running around telling others that he is unreasonable to work with.
Not the dealer you have to worry about; it's MINI USA. They're definitely not worried about people running around saying they denied a warranty repair.
The trick will be finding someone to sell one. It only comes in the JCW kit at this time (with the pipe and ECU). Doesn't look like you can get it piece-by-piece.
From what I've read, the JCW kit has either recently been released for the autos or will be released very soon.
I seriously doubt the turbo inlet hose will void your warranty, but if you're concerned about it switch back to the OEM one before going to the dealer: it literally take 5 minutes! (p.s. great part btw!)
Unless the dealer agrees to cover you (in writing) regardless of what MINI does, it don't hold much weight...
jascooper, the reason jacks and lug wrenches are not shipped with cars is because the cars come with run flat tires and no spares. A jack and wrench would be useless without a spare tire/wheel. Imagine how much money BMW has saved on each car that they no longer have to supply with a wrench and jack, multiplied by over a million.

And the biggie: There are jack points on the car that fit the jack that the manual says you are supposed to have.
They've already saved millions by not providing a spare tire. How much more do they have to save by inconveniencing their customers?
I couldn't agree with you more, jascooper. As soon as my run flats are dead I will get regular tires and will have to buy a jack and lug wrench and carry a space saver spare. I guess my whole point was that BMW is in business to make as much money as they can for their stockholders and if in doing so it inconveniences their customers, TS. I've had BMWs since 1969. The more recent ones I've owned had very nice wheels that at retail were about $500 each. The guy who came up with the idea of eliminating jacks and spares must be living high off the hog these days.

I've already ditched the runflats and carry a small compressor and plug kit. Unless you do real damage to a tire, the sensors should warn you in time to stop and put air in your tire before it's too late. With a slow leak, you should be able to get home even if you have to stop every now and then when the sensors go off to add air.

Yes. Early build cars didn't get them. They changed their policy I think in late April or May, but MINI didn't make it retroactive

They do now. The only tools I had to buy were a 27mm socket for the oil filter, and T50 for the drain plug. Oh, and a 16mm wrench. for the endlinks on my swaybar

Actually, like was mentioned in the post before yours, the MCS does come with the jack now. Mine's a Sept build and it came with the kit.
Jack, toolkit etc.

Should give you all you need to know. Glad you found the tools. This is a great site, that's why I started this thread:

To be precise, I don't think it said that when I posted... take a look at the "last edited" time.
