Dealer said step 5 work is done at dealer

Is it onlly step 5 or step 4 as well.
I was wondering why the steps seem so redundant until the dealer told me when she helped me build my car that step 5 is dealer install work.

What stinks is that the dealer charges a lot for install so there was not much happiness looking at the part prices.

I remember someone posted that they had the JCW aero kit installed at the docks?? or before the dealer got the car??? The dealer told me it and the JCW Engine mods only gets installed at the dealership, not in England or the docks.

It's only items in step 5 which aren't factory installed. I can't speak for the JCW engine kit since it's relatively new, but I've read of aero kits being installed before arriving at the dealer. Neither of them would be installed in Oxford but VDC installs of the aero kit definitely exist. I'm relatively sure that the engine kit is a dealer only option, for now at least. One thing, be sure to get both part and labor charges at multiple dealers. You can get accessories installed at any MINI dealer and you'd be quite surprised in how much prices can vary.

My MCS is currently in port getting a JCW aero kit installed. The JCW aero kit is only installed at the dealer if you order it later (post vehicle pickup). I had originally ordered my MCS with some JCW options (shift **** and hood scoop) and laughed when my MA told me that there were install charges (not insignificant either). Those type of options are considered dealer installed options. It also goes for any wheels that you upgrade (those are EXPENSIVE install fees). I didn't end up ordering them, and probably won't now.

There are a few of the step five options you can get installed at the VDC (Vehicle Distribution Center) if you order them along w/ your car. Off the top of my head they are: JCW Aero Kit, JCW Cross Drilled Brake Rotors, Sport Stripes, iPod Adapter, Driving Lights.

The VDC install prices are usually a bit less than what the dealer's going to charge you. If there's stuff you want
and the price is high then make it a point of negotiation when you place your order.
