Help me build my MINI! Please?

Ok, here are the things I know I want.

- A Mini Cooper s
- 17 inch Crown-spoke
- Rear fog lights

Here are the configurations that I am deciding between, any pictures that you can provide of your car that match any of these would help.

1. Pure Silver with a Black roof/mirrors. Its clean I like the way pure silver pops. I might add black stripes I might not.

2. Chili Red w/Black Roof/Mirrors and black stripes. This is just a copy of the car in the topgear segment on youtube that I watch twice a day at least. It's showy its fun, but I don't like the way the red looks in some pictures. I can't tell if its the camera phones or what.

4. Dark blue w black roof/mirrors and black stripes. I was really sold on this combo based on some owner pictures I saw here. They looked great. My only concern is the contrast, the blue and the black might look greatr at first but in different lights or over time it might not look so hot.

5. Dark Blue w white roof/mirrors/stripes. I like this look as well, really bright contrast, fun look.

All help is appreciated.

My 1st MINI was chili red with black roof/mirrors (no stripes) and I really like that combination. If you like red, the chili red is a nice shade. It isn't overly bright, too much towards orange or maroon, and is non-metallic...it's just a nice strong shade of red. (and you're right, it can come out all sorts of shades in photos!) My 2007 (shown in my signature) is red head-to-foot!

Though I can't help with the config, I'm kind of in the same boat as you, I can sympathize about the youtube thing.

Ever since the addiction I haven't gotten as much work done for surfing the web for mini related stuff.

Whatever you choose I sure it will be great, the amount of personalization is just a little daunting at first it seems.

Good luck and welcome.

Of those choices, I'd lean towards LiB/W w/ stripes! It's one of the configurations I'm considering!

I certainly sympathize- all the choices can be absolutely paralysing. One of the posters here told me to "Go with your gut" which for me meant that the car went to Chili Red. I have never had a bright red car. I did have a silver car once, and have always fondly recalled it as one of the most beautiful cars I have ever owned.

One thing that also helped me on choosing a color was thinking about the other colors I like. Mostly I like what are called "warm colors". That means reds, golds, oranges, and some greens. "Cool" colors are blues, purples, silvers, and some greens. As a whole, do you like cool or warm colors more? If you were going to paint your room, would it be a gold or a blue room? Do you tend to feel more comfortable if it is warm outside or cold outside? If you are always hot, you might not want a "hot" color like red. If you are always a little cold, you might not want a "cool" blue over time.

Have you had a chance to look at some on the lot? That helps too.

Good luck!

I vote for LiB/W! It looks even better in person.

Pure silver, Dark silver, Chili red....all look good. I like laser blue also but I think it is the most likely cop bait than any other color.

I went with Pure Silver. While the black roof looks good, it is a solar collector and makes the car hot inside. So, I went with a Pure Silver roof. There is plenty of black trim on the MINI and it goes very well with Pure Silver. I added a black racing stripe on the bonnet and I think that works well.

The Crown Spoke wheels are rather heavy at 22.5 lbs. each. For about $750 I got a set of much lighter CenterLine RPM 17x7 wheels that are less that 16 lbs. each. That improves ride, handling, acceleration, and braking. It may be a subtle improvement, but it is an improvement.

Get 16" wheels with your car and use them for winter tires, or when you want a softer ride.
