Overhead courtesy light

I've been reading these boards for months and have finally decided to start posting!

I could have sworn that when I took the key out of the ignition, the courtesy light and footwell lights would automatically come on ~ that is until I took the car to show my sister and she was pushing buttons and now the lights don't come on until I open the door. How do I get the lights back to turning on when I remove the key? Or am I just going crazy!

I think you have to play with the toggle over head, I think it is the second one from left.

Oh, I know all about that toggle ~ that's the one she was pushing...and pulling...and pushing! Am I right about the lights coming on when the key is removed and not just opening the door?

Yes you are right about that. This is a new one on me...may take a bit to get an answer. Might there be something in the owner's manual??

I read the manual, and I gotta say it's not the most helpful manual I've ever read. I couldn't find an answer in there. Only thing it really tells you is to hold the toggle for 3 seconds to have the light stay off.

On the day I showed the car to my sister, I was just thinking how much I loved that feature and now it's gone I want it back!

Isn't that part of the "pathway lighting" feature? If so, maybe she simply switched off the pathway lighting on you. On our nav equipped car, you can set the time it stays on via the nav interface, but I think you can do the same in the non-nav cars as well.

If you hold the interior light toggle for 3 seconds it will permanently turn off the interior lights (useful when you are working on the interior). Hit it again and they are back. Not sure how you got them to come one when the door is open.
