Have an Interior Chromeline?

Just picked up my MC - Wooooooop! and it's awesome. One thing, though - I have the interior chromeline and it seems to be missing some pieces. The dash is fine (speedo/tach/vents) and the gearshift bezel is chrome, but there is no chrome around the cupholders and none on the door (handle / speaker bezels). My MA checked another car w/ IC that came in the same shipment as mine and it didn't have chrome on the door either. He is contacting the factory rep about it.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Everything in the book and on the configurator led me to believe that the IC would include all of the chrome bezels mentioned above. Was I wrong? Or is this just a factory mix-up, and if so, does it occur often?

Mines all chromed out. No pieces missing. Wonder if they are changing it up for the 2008s, and since yours is a late 2007, it received the change too?

Either way it kinda sucks.

This may be off-topic a bit, but how difficult would it be to retrofit the chrome pieces. worth it?

I was wondering if this might be the case with the chrome line in a Cooper. I think, for whatever reason, there's a difference in the chrome line interior between the base Cooper and the Cooper S. The brochure is insanely unclear, but there's a rather confusing line (on p.67) that states:

'On MINI Cooper S models with an optional interior surface finish or upholstery in leather or cloth/leather, the chrome trim is also applied to the door handles, the speakers set in the door trims, and the front and rear cup holders.'

Of course right above that is a completely contradictory line that says, if you get the chrome interior option, that you get the dash rings, and the door rings, with not mention of exceptions or stipulations.

Did you get the standard seats?

Anyone with an S w/ leatherette or cloth seats get the chrome line interior?

Andyde - there's a thread where someone's retrofitting it - easy to find w/ search - seems to not be difficult per se, but more $$.

diameus - your car looks fantastic! I't's kind of hard to tell for sure, but in one pic it looks like your speaker bezels are black - but the handle bezel is chrome. This is so weird.

Hmm... I know for sure that our chrome line interior didn't come with the rear cup holder chrome ring (as shown on the Outmotoring site). I know that our R53's did, but I just assumed that they left them out on the R56 to save cash or something. I'll have to check the other pieces when the wife gets home.

Does anyone else have the rear cup holder chrome ring?

I do not, and I feel slighted!

if you get one of the interior trim upgrades (piano black, fluid silver, brushed alloy, oak) it comes with "extended decor rings" which are the trim rings on the door panels. all cooper s's come with this standard.

i believe you only get chrome on the doors and around the cupholders if you have the "extended decor rings" option.

If that is the case I wish it wouldn't show up on the configurator if it's not supposed to. It's (probably unintentionally) deceptive. And confusing.

At any rate, my MA (Chris Y at So. Bay MINI) has been awesome and told me he ordered all the parts for me, so it looks like I will end up with the chrome I thought I'd get, even if it is a week or two late.

Okay, just checked our new MCS (which has piano black trim) and there aren't any chrome bits on the speakers in the door. However, there are chrome rings around the door handles (and the handels themselves are chrome - which I belive they all are). Our cupholders are chrome (the two in the front but not the one in the rear).

I am happy to put together kits of whatever chrome pieces anyone needs. Just let me know what a common kit would contain to complete the 'missing' chrome parts in either model and I will put it on the site....

I can get just the rear cupholder chrome as well as just the two front cupholders trim rings if people want them????

They are pretty fragile and a bit of a pain to get the old ones out but chrome replacements do exist...I have a few of each in stock.

I just picked up my car on 9/26 - I purchased the chrome line inside and out. My inside trim does include the chrome around the cupholders, handle and speaker bezels. It sounds as though yours wasn't properly installed!

Thanks Aaron. That's awful nice of you to set that up for us.

However, my problem is that since we paid $200 for the chrome line interior option, we should get all the bit included. I personally can understand if MINI dropped the rear cup holder chrome ring (as you never see it anyway), but if there is supposed to be ones on the door speakers, etc. then they should give them to us at no extra charge.

Although, looking more closely at our car, I would indeed say that the chrome rings are dropped on the door speakers when you have the piano black option as it looks like they are replaced by piano black colored rings instead (which is okay with me as it looks good).

@scribblepaper,

Do you have the piano black interior trim or just the standard checkerboard silver?

Same here

My R56 MCS has chromeline (SEE GALLERY) and it's on all the speakers, the dash rings, handles, the cup rings, etc. Got it in early April. You shouldn't have some grey plastic and some chrome. That can't be right.

@Ex-Pat-Brit,

Not to take sales away from Outmotoring, but wouldn't it make more sense for you to complain to the dealer where you bought your MINI and have them give you the chrome rings for free? You paid for them with your car (assuming you bought the chrome line interior option that is) and so you should be able to have them without having to buy them aftermarket. I'd complain loudly!

Okay, so...

1) Does anyone with the chrome line interior have a chrome ring on their rear cup holder? (we don't)

2) Does anyone with the chrome line interior, who ALSO has the piano black trim, have chrome rings around their door speakers? (we don't - they're piano black instead)

Interesting stuff...
