Ordered mine on the 19th of August - finished production on Sept 2nd, got into the US on the 13th of September... And STILL waiting. It made it to my dealer on the 24th, (which is unsually long in my opinion) and now everyone is waiting for the certificate of origin to show up.
I can't believe I waited from late March to 7/10 .....about 105 days!!!!
I have had the car for about ...62 days, which is about 43 days less than how long I waited for the car.:impatient 2700 miles.
I ordered mine on 9/20 and it's already built (9/30) and waiting for transport. Was anybody elses's built this quickly? Once it's built, how long does it take to load, ship and arrive at the dealership?
I'm close to the New York port (about 3 hours by car/truck).
Our cars sound like they might be on the same boat!! I also ordered my Mini on 9/20 and from tracking it online, it was scheduled for production on 9/22 and has been awaiting transport since yesterday, 9/30! I know it hasn't even been two weeks yet but the wait is KILLING ME! I'm the kind of person that HATES waiting and pays Next Day Air for regular stuff. I asked my dealer about Next Day Air shipping on the Mini but he told me it would be about $30,000 extra
I ordered mine at the end of July. It arrived at the dealer in Omaha five weeks later. Two weeks faster than the original estimate. Funny though, the MINIUSA site still shows it at the VDC.
Anyone on here know how to aquire the VIN number of the vehicle once it's scheduled for production? The reason I'm asking is that I want to order the JCW tuning kit for my MCS that I'm waiting on and apparently you need the VIN number of the car. My salesman hasn't offered any suggestions on how to get it, and just tells me that I can't order the kit right now because they are on back order. I was willing to pay up front in full for the kit, because I'd like to get it in before the car arrives so that it can be installed before I take delivery of the vehicle.
Any suggestions on how to get the VIN?? or anyone know of any dealers in So. Cal. area that have better knowledge of this process?, my dealer couldn't even give me an install price on the kit. Thanks
When my wife and I went to order her PWMCS, we were told that one very close to that specs we wanted was already on the way. We put $5200 down and they put a priority delivery on the car. All in all we waited 7 days and it was one of the longest weeks of our lives!!!

866-ASK-MINI The Owner's Lounge has my car scheduled for production, but I called on Monday, and it's already in production and nearly completed. They have information much earlier than the web before the car is shipped. They had my VIN Monday, which was 9 days after I ordered.

You'll find at times the Ask Mini number is more current than the website and sometimes it is not. My car is at my dealer, however Ask Mini says it's at the dock awaiting a shipping vessel. Even though it went through that stage almost a month ago and has been released from the destination port to the dealer. For some reason Ask Mini went back to an earlier statis. Who knows why, the Owner's Lounge also indicates it's at the dealer.
Mini's tracking system isn't exactly perfect. But you'll always have a general idea of where the car is.
Ordered 8/25, although the order was actually entered on 8/27. My MA got the order "bumped" up and it was done by 9/6 (week 36) or thereabout. It arrived at the dealership on 9/26 or so, and I picked it up today, 10/3, so about 38 days.
Not too shabby, considering I was counting on 2 months to get it.
will the owners lounge show you what stage of production its in or does it just say scheduled for production until its done...
It will say scheduled for production until it is outside the factory waiting to be transported to the port. If you talk to a live person at Ask Mini, sometimes they can tell you what stage of production the car is in, like "in the paint shop" "in final assembly" etc.
thanks for the heads up!! i just called and its in the paintshop and is scheduled to be finished by the 6th!! i cant wait to move onto the next stage of tracking... the long ship ride!!
Looks like my 3 month wait just got extended. Owner's Lounge had indicated a 10/2 delivery date. Seems it will be stuck at the port for nearly 1 month more. My short fuse just lite.
