How to stop a cat?

Okay, had Ornery for almost 2 months now... still loving it!! She's broke in now and the WOW factor is still there. However I'm addicted to the sport button. Is there a support group for that yet? and I seem to have developed OCD when it comes to keeping her clean... I know there's a support group for that one. LOL
Anyway, I wake up this morning and go outside for my morning smoke ( I know I'm going to hear about that one ) and there are little kitty paw prints all over my car!!!
Anyone have any ideas on how to keep the neighbor's cat off my car? Other than my Airsoft BB guns (plastic BB guns)?

Here is something I found online:

This may sound crazy, but it was recommended to me more than once. Kersoene. The scent supposedly drives the kitties away. I wiped down the windows with a cloth just damp with it, then rinsed really well. Enough scent remained that the cat avoided the car, and after a couple of weeks, stopped going near the car.

Also cats don't like tinfoil maybe you could put a piece on there, no clue how to make it stay.

ps: If you figure out a way to stop a cat from doing anything, let me know!

I used to once a week draw a line around the car with vinegar, once even used a bit of pb blaster (wd-40), didnt have a problem after that. They are a pain, my wifes bmw paint was destroyed by our neighbors cat. At first I used to throw a glass of water at it everytime i saw it hoping it would get the message, but they are stupid, and stubborn. Heck, I even rubbed the top portion of the fence down with petroleum jelly to keep it from jumping from the fence to the car making more scratches. I`m sure I`m going to get a earful from the cat lovers here.

plkdb, I read nothing in your post that should draw the ire of the SPCA or any other cat lovers.

I've seen cars after the cats' owners allowed their pets to sleep on the hood of their cars... completely removed the paint and the primer from the finish. Must be something in cat hair... oils or whatnot.

We have one neighbor who lets their cat run the neighborhood. The feline has been caught sleeping on my glider rocker on the back patio. She leaves me gifts of dead mice on my sidewalk.

I talked to my neighbors. I told them I don't like their cat's behavior. But I can live with it. However, I went on, the first time I see the cat even looking at one of my cars funny, that's the day they and I are going to have a very long talk. They could see by the look in my eye that I wasn't joking.

The cat is now a house cat.

Ps. What do you expect when you name a cat "Ornery" ? It's her destiny to cause you headaches. (okay, not so funny)

Save the kitty, unless its one them nasty disease ones. Buy a car cover, itll protect the car from UV rays and Kitty tracks. I got tired of washing my car then the next day the darn mist over night makes it so dirty, this was my saving grace.

theres a few cats in my area that like to take residence on top of my car, even more so in the winter(at least they did on the dodge, so prolly the mini too!). I think i'm just gonna do what you suggest and get a car cover.

Car is Ornery... the cat is, well going to be "sorry" if I catch it on my Mini again. I've talked to my american and italian neighbors about the cat... it's a stray.
I'm going to try the a few non-lethals first.

We have a leash law that applies to cats in my area. We've lived in this home for about six years and thankfully there is very little activity from the neighborhood cat.

Then there's my older neighborhood.:impatient We had more cats than human neighbors. I decided to make a statement during a Block Watch meeting about the leash law applying to cats and dogs. I also mentioned this at the monthly Civic League Meeting. Then I took the time to print the law out on a little letter that I personally walked around and handed out to each and every neighbor. This reduced our problem very little.

My next step was to purchase a Have-A-Heart animal trap. I hated this at first, but it really didn't hurt the animals at all. I thought about catching the cats and personally returning most to their owners, but didn't want to deal with the negative owner reaction. I'd just call animal control to come pick up my catch. I joke you not, they were at my house two or three times a day for about a week. The neighbors that cared about their animals and went to pick them up had to pay a fee each time. The third time was a bigger fine if I remember correctly. After word got around this problem sort of took care of itself over time and staying with it. Caring owners started keeping their animals under their own noses and not everyone else's. Yes, I did have many owners try to explain to me that cats are animals that need their outdoor freedom. I wouldn't hear of it. My animals didn't visit their homes and cause them any grief, so just why was I expected to deal with it. No excuses. Move to the country if that's what you want is roaming space for your animal. Not in a neighborhood where you are suppose to be responsible for your animals.

In the end most of my neighbors stayed good neighbors and everyone was happy in the end. Including a few neighbors who thanked me many times for actually putting my ideas to work and trying to solve a problem that had been getting out of hand for years. It usually takes action instead of just words to get the ball rolling.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, I thought it was YOUR cat.

Well, then... whole different story and lots of other potential remedies.

Non-lethals Only

Looks like I have to stick to the non-lethals... Italy is a very PETA friendly country.
I have no problems with cats, just the one thats on my car!
Keep the options coming please.

Car cover - or put Ornery in the garage. I cannot think of anything better than that. Cats climb up because MINI is warm and high off ground (comparitively). How about this - grow catnip on side of your house - you will never see cat near driveway again.

The neighborhood cat liked to lay on Gromit's top-kind of like a hammock, I guess. I took some pepper and sprinkled a little on the top where she lays, and she decided not to lay there anymore.

Airsoft works...don't ask me how I know

My neighbor's cat(s) used to love to come in our garage and get on top of our '03 MINI. If that's not bad enough, they would also pee/spray our wheels. Ever seen what cat pee does to aluminium wheels

Tried to address this problem through normal procedures with my neighbor, but that didn't work. Finally the letter from the HOA, pictures of their "unsecured animals" on our property, invoice for my new wheels, and phone call from my attorney...forced them to take action

i have an outdoor cat and Kittyboo has never set one paw on my Ge-Mini... i also have a black top so it may be too hot for her... we'll see when winter gets here... she prefers to lay under the mini... which is fine by me...

the kerosene sounds a lil dangerous but i guess whatever works

Poor kitty! (But funny! )

I think this entire thread just shows what great taste cats have to want to lounge on a Mini over any other car on the block.

I left Betty overnight at a friends house on the street, and came to find two or three paw prints right near the scoop. No big deal, catch em next time i wash/wax...

Ya...no...they are still there.

Today I am running through all three waxing stages, and beginning with 3m swirl mark remover. I am doubtful they will come out at this point in time.

I very much hate cats...Would never hurt one..but will certainly never live with one again.

nK

Good God. Horrible. Watching someone decapitate a cat for their own
amusement and putting it on YouTube to "entertain" others is not LMAO
funny in my book.
