aftermarket intake?

I'm looking for some advice and maybe a few answers about this....I'm looking at the new DDMWorks R56 Race Intake and a regular cold air intake. Which would you guys recommend? I'm not planing on racing or anything just looking to upgrade some of the performance.

I have the Alta one and I really like it...looks cool, sounds really cool and really easy to install yourself.

i also have the alta one, just installed it today. it took about 30 minutes to take the factory one out and install the alta cold air intake. haven't drove the car much since i installed it since it was raining. i do like the sound though and the way it looks.

They look cool and I'll probably get one, but I'm not sure how much power we're really getting with an intake on a tubro car. The intake air is going to get HOT when it goes by the turbo. Then it's going to go through the intercooler. Unless the stock airbox is a major point of restriction, it's hard to see much power being generated there.

even if the air is pulled directly from the outside? Like a ram air setup?

But it isnt. I want to believe that this intake makes more power... but it simply pulls in warmer air (than the sealed box) and uses possibly a more free flowing filter. I havent seen or heard of ALTA showing us dyno charts on just the stock air filter replacement with their own (or possibly a K/N).

^ but the DDMWorks setup is a ram-air, with a scoop-piece that runs from the scoop directly to the airbox. wouldn't that draw cooler air?

You have a VERY sensitive butt if you can feel a 10HP gain at 5800 RPM.

Does it really matter if it's RAM air or "cold air" if it's going to go by a turbo that is a few hundred degrees? Is 10 degrees really going to make that big of difference?
