Do you all see the U-joint on the steering column?

I was just exploring my MINI today and noticed that the universal joint of the steering column was exposed in the footwell area. Is that normal? I don't think I have ever seen this in any of my previous cars...

If you see a U-joint in the steering column, it means that it broke in shipment and they had to patch the column with a U-joint.

My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but I think I recall seeing a U-joint last time I accidentally got in the car upsidedown with my feet on the headrest. Not sure why I can't recall clearly...

If your previous cars were R56 MINIs, I would worry. Otherwise: normal.
