Mmmmm... I luvs me some window tint!

Winston got all tinted up last week. Looks a million times better IMO, and keeps him much cooler in these 95+ temps
we're still having in NM.

I think the tinted windows make all the cheez-ball black trim much more tolerable. Kinda ties everything together.

Tell me what ya think!

For anyone who's curious, it's 3M Color Stable Gray tint, 35% all the way around.

Yup.. L(.)(.)King good! You should take it up and show it to my baby sister - she lives in Cedar Crest on the east side of the mountain.

She'd love a Mini..

Winston looks like a handsome little fellow.

I have got to remember 3M Color Stable grey tint 35%. I think it would go great on Percy's DS glass.

Just curious as to how long tinting takes.
Can you setup an appointment and wait while they do it?

Mine took about three hours, with one person doing the work. Plus another 35 minutes to do the two sunroof panels.

They also told me not to roll down the windows for four days to give the adhesive time to bond. I gave it an extra day. Was finally able to use them today.

there was 2 people doing the tint on mine. the time you have to wait also depends on how hot it is outside. they told me since t been so hot here they toldme not to row the windows down for 24 hours. normally it's 2 days before rowing them down. i gave it the 2 day waiting period before rowing them down.

Nice pics of the car and tint.

I've not taken car of it yet, but it's on the list. I can't make up my mind on having the front side windows tinted. I crank my windows up and down so much that I don't want to deal with seeing scratches down the road. How do others feel about this?

I just ordered tint through my dealer to be applied when my MINI arrives. It is AB/AB and the sales rep was suggesting 35% on the front (legal limit in MO) and 20% on the rear sides and back. He said it would look good in the back with a darker tint to go with the color of the car, but what do you guys think? Is there a significantly noticeable difference between 35% and 20%? Will two tint tones look awkward? I don't know what brand the dealer uses - I will try to find out.

I was planning to do what your dealer suggested. Then I was shown the 35/20 vs. 20/20 and, IMO 20 all around is better. I thought the 35 was too light; I could clearly see the interior from at least 40 feet away. But, plenty do what your dealer suggested. Take a look in my gallery and some others. Some of my pics are from before the tint, some after.

Lynn - I def like the 20% better than the 35% - but, unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be an option for me as 35% is the legal limit for front windows in Missouri.

Well, first, I would find out which shop your dealer uses to tint their car's windows (guaranteed they don't do it themselves), and then bypass the middleman and take it to that shop yourself. That's what I did, and I saved $200!

Second, I personally prefer the same tint all the way around, as opposed to darker tint on the back, and lighter tint on the front. Since 35% is the darkest you can do on the front windows in my city, I did 35% all the way around. I would have preferred 20% all the way around, but what can ya do? :impatient

I say tint 'em all! I have tinted the front windows in every car I've ever ownes, and I roll my windows down all the time. Never once seen a scratch or nick as a result of simply rolling down the windows.

Rattmobbins your car looks fabulous.
I love the tint on my windows, 20% all the way around. Never have had a probelm with it in any of our vehicles. Sometimes I wish it was even darker, but then I would risk being pestered by the men and women in blue.
With all the vehicles that have it, I'm surprised that the auto manufacturers aren't jumping on the bandwagon.

35% percent is the limit in MD, and many other places, too. But, what is important is how it is enforced. For example, in NJ, you cannot be stopped just for tint. If you are stopped for something else, you can get a ticket for tint, but they only do that if you give them a hard time.

35% is the legal limit here in alabama also, but i still went with 20%.

I find it interesting that whatever the state limit is, most go one step more, myself included. I guess mini owners are just rebels by nature. I also think there is a variety from mfg. to mfg. as to how dark a given percentage appears. Anyway the tint job looks good.

i had 35% on my old car (black civic) and i thought it was too lite, so i decided to go darker with the MINI. i wish 20% should be the legal limt cause for me it's the percent darkness.

We did the state max in Alabama - 35%. Didn't want to deal with legal hassles. The sunroof is a 20% tint with a high metal content - whatever that means. My wife (her daily driver) thought that the limo tint was too dark on the inside. She liked the 20% and it cut down on heat a lot. The guy took three hours to do the job. Charged $200 to do the whole thing.
