Besides I happen to one of those 07 MCS with the noisy engine. Sounds like a diesel.
Dude, was that "diesel" noise there when you drove the car off the lot? If it's something new, you probably need to add some oil. Have you checked the dipstick lately. When you leave the oil in this long (factory changes only), you are bound to burn some. Depends on the driving and your mileage, but yes, you could be low on oil.
Oil level is full and oil is clean. I only have 2,400 miles on the car. The diesel noised just started about a month ago. I've only had the car since June and I've heard this is a common problem.
While most owner's situations can get away with extended oil changing intervals, there are those who live in colder climates that make short trips of less than ten miles or so per day or idle their engines in efforts to warm them up. In these situations, the moisture from the combustion process that finds it's way into the crankcase never has a chance of being fully boiled off. This is considered extreme heavy duty usage and oil changes need to be more frequent, preferrably with the changes being made during the peak of the cold season. The moisture that collects in such engines is very acidic, and does quite a number on engine internals.
After I changed the oil, I noticed the car is about 15 whp stronger and the engine doesn't make diesel like sound anymore. Man, I can't wait to make fun postings like this all day on April fools...
The dieseling sound has something to do with the direct injection system if I recall correctly.
I noticed that too on my test drive. Apparently it's normal for direct inj. It almost has a "ticking valve" sound. Definitely, something to get used to.
