Exterior Chrome Package

I'm beginning to regret not ordering the exterior chrome package on my MINI!! But I just didn't care for the chrome mirrors. Can this be added after the build? Marvin is on his way over right now.

I'm sure you get aftermaket ones or OEM ones from the dealer. they take about 5 mins to install. The funny things is many people including myself are trying to remove as much chrome as possible off the car.

yeah... I debated a long time about the chrome line -- both interior and exterior -- as I've ALWAYS dechromed my cars immediately! ... but... something about the MINI .. or maybe my age?? ... it just seems to really make the car ..well.... kinda flashy in a good way! .... I REALLY like it and get lots of compliments! .... and ... I even like the chrome mirrors!! ... ( good gawd... who knows.... maybe Elvis prints on velvet are next!!)

My 2 cents:
I have both the interior & exterior chrome packages compliments of my wife. I must say, the interior is well worth it with an antracite headliner and piano black or another trim of your chosing. I actually hardly notice the exterior accents, save the mirror caps. I think if that is what you are craving an quick aftermarket solution shouldnt be a problem. The rest of the exterior accents are pretty minor, really.

I have the chrome mirrors without the exterior chrome. I love them - think they look great. I didn't like all of the exterior chrome,or the interior, but I do like the chrome mirrors.

Get the interior, skip the exterior IMO. I actually was in the opposite boat as you. I ordered the exterior originally, and then cancelled it before my baby went into production.

I didn't like the chrome mirrors (was gonna have the dealer switch them back to white), and I didn't like the chrome trim on the boot. I only ordered it for the chrome around the front and rear grilles, and decided that it was a waste of $200 for those 2 pieces.

Were they going to charge you for the mirror swap, and would you have ended up w/ a set of extraneous mirrors? I'm pondering the exterior chrome, but really, really don't like the mirrors, at least in pictures. Maybe they look better in person. But the other bits seem to add a nice amount of flash. Anyone know if they're available piecemeal?

I may be wrong here but when at the dealer the chrome mirrors felt/looked like plastic chrome??? other than the mirrors - what else is included in the exterior chrome??? I got the PW with black top - it comes with black mirrors - not sure if I like that - any PW owners here swap for white mirrors???

Was in the same boat as many of you, loved the exterior bits around the lower front grill and back area but loathed the mirrors. Perhaps you can get them switched out for free but my dealer was quoting me a price of $200 including installation to put black mirrors on my SS/B MINI. The problem is if you order the exterior chrome package, your MINI comes from the factory with the chrome caps so you have to order black/white/body colored ones separately. I thought maybe they'd give me a credit for letting them have my chrome ones and buying their stock black, but no such luck. So in the end I would have been paying $450 just for a bit of chrome in the front and back, hence my deciding to skip it. Perhaps on a darker color I'd have been more willing to splurge but with Sparkling Silver the effect isn't that noticeable. Just my 2 cents...

Same way they felt to me, which distracted from their appeal all the more. Plus with my combination (Sparkling Silver body with black roof and bonnet stripes plus all black interior) the black mirrors are essential in my book. As I mentioned above (and you can see it on the MINI USA configurator much better then can be explained) the package also includes chrome trim around the lower front grill, it also surrounds that black plastic in the lower rear, and finally it chromes out the bonnet handle.

I ordered the ext chrome package because I wanted the chrome surrounds front and rear as well as the chrome trunk handle. I knew I was going to pay for the kit and be stuck with paying for the mirrors that had to be changed.

My MA just swapped em out for the desired white ones and left them in my trunk on dleivery. I sold them on e-bay and wound up with my desired setup.

I guess is the whites are easier to come by w/o cost because my friend wanting to do the same did not get his chrome ones returned. Of course, and am also on my second MINI and have helped sell a few cars for my MA..I get "perks"..no discount, but perks..

Now will. he pop for a free JCW kit when I ask ??

I'm just not sure if I can justify the full $250 for a few bits of chrome. Now if they knocked off the $150 that the mirrors cost seperately that'd be a whole different story.

Does anyone know if the Exterior Chrome option chromifies the MC's side signals? That might almost be worth it then. That giant spot of black looks really out of place on the CR with a white roof.

Ah well, that money saved can then be spent on other fancy options.

Very much agreed - if such was the case I'd spring for the package in a second. I actually thought that I would be able to get my dealer to agree to doing that without a problem but I guess not. If I actually liked the chrome mirrors I could even justify $250, but $450!?! No way.

I'm already planning on trying to con the dealer into swapping the dealer installed Sport Stripes for the factory bonnet stripes included in the Sport Package, so I can't imagine they'd go for my attempt to part out the chrome on top of that.

In Canada there is only one Chrome pack.
It includes interior and exterior.. no option to separate..

And thankfully.. it does not include those chrome side mirrors.. tacky.
