One of the fields in the small speedo shows random numbers changing rapidly and will go from 10-100+- and finally settle in (I think) at some point. When stopped I get ---. Is this the computer trying to figure out my gas milage?.

That's the instantaneous (ish) mpg calculation. When you're modulating the throttle the instantaneous mpg will be fluctuating a lot; when you're cruising it should settle in at around the estimated mpg for your car.

 

in my bmw the speedo is also used as secondary navigation distance (400 feet, 200 feet, 60 feet, 10 feet, 0 feet, etc). I made thsoe #s up but you get the gist I hope. If you don't get the gist please go bac kto preschool ok
