Thanks Emily. I discovered last night that the info in the shortcut list and what the onboard help says is slightly off with the Sirius radio and changing presets. In order to change to the FM presets in one command I have to say "FM Preset #". If I say "Preset #" or "Sat Preset #" it takes me to the Sirius presets. It isn't a big deal, it just took a bit to figure out. The first time I'd tried FM Preset it didn't work, I must have said FM too soon and it only caught the Preset part of it.

Ugg...I would have thought that the dealer or the VDC would have updated the programming to make the iPod interface work correctly for you.

Gary, glad you got it figured out! I've had to learn patience and not say commands too soon after pressing the button.

Also, re iPod. I stand corrected, the problem wasn't with my MINI, it was with my old Nano. RIP poor old abused Nano. I got a new 30GB iPod at Costco yesterday and it works beautifully. I didn't get hifi, but the sound is pretty darn good after I adjusted treble and bass through the NAV interface. Might want to up the amp and get a subwoofer someday, but for now it sounds just fine

I'M SUCH A HAPPY CAMPER.

One side note... I wen't over to my Aunt and Uncle's place to show them Sam yesterday and they asked to go for a ride. They wanted to see what I meant by the handling. There wasn't anywhere nearby with twisty roads, but there is a fairly tight roundabout. They had a blast... we went around about 4 times until my Aunt started feeling a bit queezy. My 80+ year old uncle loved it.

Welcome Samwise

Great car. I really like the black stripes and the way they play off the black wheel wells. Very fun.

Samwise is awesome. I just love the blue/black combination. You sure did get Sam quickly....I remember when you just placed your order I think.

Take on those beautiful twisties down on the CA coast

Thanks. I loved the idea and how it looked in the configurator... glad it came out like I hoped.

Thanks!

Now that I have Sam, it doesn't seem like it was that long of a wait, but it was sheer torture. I *almost* snapped under the pressure.

I intend to take full advantage of any well-paved twisty road I can find...

There are so many places I've never been and sights I've never seen in the US/Canada. Until I placed the order for Sam the thought of driving to see them didn't seem appealing (Taken I-80 to Pennsylvania with my family when I was a teenager and it totally sucked, and I drove a moving truck to/from Texas which also sucked big time). Now is a whole different story... a backroads road trip is most appealing.

Someday, we'll have to meet on one of the roads around here and have a MINI (in both senses of the word) caravan. The Santa Cruz mountains are not far for me. Or, if you are inclined to visit Big Sur, Nepenthe is fun for lunch. However, that is best done after school resumes and there are fewer RVs on the road.

Carmel Valley Village to Arroyo Seca is a nice run as well.

I'm MINI-less for about a week as Autobahn Body & Paint replaces the rear bumper and repaints the scoop.

Could road trip to San Diego!

Or call in sick for the rest of the week and join us in Colorado!

Or plan to go to AMVIV in March!

Or plan to go to MOTD in May (or is is June?)!

So much to do, so many miles, so little time.

I totally wish. If I had known for sure I'd have Sam in time I could have asked for days off. But given my utter lack of productivity turing the last trimester with Sam, I'm feeling I should get back to work en-ernest.

The money you takes to Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas. Commonly referred to as Lost Wages.

My last trip there was a photo excursion to take a cover shot for a software box. It was for a set of casino games for the Newton. Remember the Newton?

Los Vegas is certainly an interesting cultural experience. Hollywood glitz on steroids.

Actually I do remember the Newton... I almost took a job as a "roaming geek" showing off the capabilities of the Newton while I was in Grad School.
