Paid cash. 1st time I have ever been able to do that with a car and it is fantastic. Lots of car payment calculators out there if you are trying to figure out payments. I like Edmunds best:
+1. That'll be most informative. Shop around for loans, BMW is usually competitive, but if you can get in a credit union, etc, it could be worth it. Get some rates and play with the calculator.
Most of the above posts were stating their deposits when they ordered, if that was confusing, by the way.
$2000 down, $400(ish) a month for 36 months with MINI Select. $14,000 due at the end of 36 months which I can then refinance, or trade up to a newer MINI.
I love the $1,000 down, no monthly payment, and $500 down, no monthly payment comments. That would imply that you paid $1,000 or $500 for your MINI.
The $1,000 and $500 may have been the deposit you paid to order the car, but if you paid in cash, then technically your down payment is the price of the car.
hope this is not too personal....i was wondering how much everyone put as a down payment and what your monthly payments are? cool thanks!
Definitely mess with the auto loan calculators online to find the combination that works for your budget. One bit of suggestion: I learned the hard way that it is a very good idea to put down at least 20% (the more the better) so right from the get go you should be at least break-even between the value of the loan and the value of the car so if something goes wrong and you need to sell you are not upside down and owing the bank money.
If you are exploring financing options, check out rategenius.com. They'll match you up with a lender at a good interest rate. They did a great job for me last time.
In my case I'm putting down 20% and financing the rest through my credit union.
1000 deposit, ~ 12K down (stocks sold just before dropping!!!) and the rest we'll do as part of our house payment. Write off part of the interest that way!
I've found that credit unions are usually the best way to go.
My dealership, Long Beach MINI, doesn't take deposits, even though I tried to give them one (to make sure I was really ordering my MINIs). Paid cash on delivery. And I'm old enough to be a grandma.
I'd say the amount of money you put down and your payments depend on your budget. Obviously the more you put down the less your payments will be. Put down what you need to get your payments within your budgeted amount. I always pay my cars off in 3-5 years. After that, when I'm ready for a new car, I sell it and put that money down on the new car.
I'll be putting down around $15K (money from old car) on the new Mini and financing the rest. My payments should be right around $260-$270/month. Same as the old car.
