R56 What's with the "cute" comments...
I once described my car as cute to the male driver of a hopped-up truck sitting next to me at a traffic light (I was talking to him, looking up through the sunroof). He said "Dude... you just called your car 'cute'!" I replied with "It IS cute. I've got nothing to prove... what are you compensating for?"
At that moment, his girlfriend, sitting next to him, burst out laughing! He sat there with a puzzled look on his face for a few seconds. As I pulled away, I heard her explain: "He just said that you have a small wiener!"

That PW one in the middle... it's just plain cute.
The CR one on the left... that's cool AND cute.
The JB one on the right... that's fast AND cute.
Bottom line: MINIs ARE cute... but they can be so much more, too.

Living in Germany, there are many of these cars on the Autobahn (mostly American's who own them because it would cost a German around 35,000 Euro (read $48K US)). Small cars are the norm here because of gas prices, but the Mini can do well over 100 MPH (I know, I've done it a couple of times) and still achieve 30+ MPG. It's "cute" because it's not like any other small car of equivalent size/price (Nissan, VW, etc.). I would rather have a nice (Cute) comment than everyone thinking it's "just another car" : )

I get it all the time (from women). From this guy's perspective it's great. Wish I had discovered the MINI years ago. Things have turned around. In the past I've usually been the one to initiate the conversation. Now, women approach me with the, "cute MINI " comment which, in turn, results in conversation that takes off in any number of directions.

I haven't taken delivery yet, :impatient but when I do this is something I am definitely not looking forward to. My wife gets the comment all the time on her chili red/black roof MC. I won't mind it so much from a woman, but it would still grate my nerves.
When I made the decision to get his & her Minis, I just told myself that something like this was inevitable. But when I got to thinking about it, I see more women driving big SUVs like mine than men these days, so what the heck? It doesn't matter what I drive, I'm a man and I have nothing to prove to anybody. And if that's not good enough I can always break my foot off in a dude's **** if he gets out of hand with the "cute" jokes!

Every woman who has made any comment about Romi calls her 'cute'. Guys are another matter.
I call Romi cute, because she is cute. And adorable. And sexy. And hot! And...ok...I better stop there.
Anywho,..nothing wrong with a Mini being cute. It is more fun looking at the expression of the following lunatic as they try and keep up with you through the turns and corners. Cute eh? Lemme show you cute. Or at least, what I think is cute.

"Cute" is a term of endearment. At least when I use it, it doesn't imply weak at all. I personally find "attractive" men "cute" and by no means does that mean he's not masculine (unless, of course I'm in SF and then its a crap shoot).
Take it as a complement from women...
from guys I would probably want to hit them.

But, when a man says it, 9 times out of 10 he's saying it in that snickering, insulting sort of way
This is what I get from women: "OMG I love that car, its sooo cute. I want one." (in my best ditsy voice)
This is what I get from men: "Cute car, what kind of gas mileage do you get?" (manly vice)
Doesnt bother me, rather have them say its cute than the attitude that some people who drive giant behemoth SUVs get, especially around the gas pumps.
After all 'cute' is taken (by me anyway), to be positive, not negative.
My cars have always been small, usually two seaters, so its really nothing new. In fact I get more 'cute' comments about my Geo Tracker when I take the top off.

Hmmm...as much as you think that may work, I am almost to that point (minus the flat black).
Two of my new clients over the past two days, both older ladies, as soon as they see my car: "That is such a CUTE little car!!"
The all blackness of it doesn't get rid of the cute comments, but they don't really bother me
. I am content with driving a cute car.Cute? You be the judge:

Early on when I first got the car, some guys were in the parking lot of Oriole Park and one pointed at the car as I was parking it and said something on the order of "Now that is cute". As I got out, I said "Thanks! And how do you like my car?". There was a moment of 'processing silence' before they all started laughing, much less so the guy who made the remark. I answered some questions about the car as they checked it out and they came away impressed.
I will agree, it is cute, though not exceedingly so. I did not buy it for macho reasons. Quite the opposite. I knew what the car was capable of, and so has a few who have tried unsuccessfully to chase me through twisties and roundabouts.

MINIs are small and have something of a "face" thus making it "cute." I agree, it is a compliment. I don't think of it as cute either, though...that's just not my first thought abut the car. To me babies are cute...MINIs are cool.
