Do all the R56s have this secret compartment I keep hearing about? If they do I can't figure out how to open mine. I got mine in May, if that makes a difference.

 

Many posts on this. The compartment is in the dash panel above the glove box. Push in along the bottom edge, center of that panel and it will open. It takes a failry decent amount of pressure, but don't take a hammer to it. They are all supposed to open now. Got mine in April and it did.

 

I tried that with no luck. It came off the lot, so I wonder if it was an earlier build with the locked compartment.

 

Chili_red07, from what I understand you can take it to the dealer and have them retro fit it. BTW, I love you car!! I will have a chili red also....but with stripes. Don't cha just love it!!!

 

I spoke to my MA last week and she did not know anything about a retrofit. I picked up my MINI off the lot in June and the compartment doesn't open.

 

Typical MA bs. Call the service department and, if they "act" dumb, call askmini.

 

There is a fix for it out there already. i got mine done two weeks ago. you need to tell the service ppl to check their bulletins. i even have a email from MINIUSA saying that there is fix and the letter has been sent to ALL MINI dealers.

 

You're suppose to get a bulletin from the factory about the secret compartment. As soon as you get that you can bring it to the nearest dealership.
