I have no personal knowledge since I don't have my MINI yet, but thought I'd point you to the NorCal MINIs forum:

They recently had a group-buy tint/clear bra event in the East Bay:

After searching on several car forums, I went with Formula One Pinnacle Series tint for my wife's Infiniti...

On there website, I found a local installer and they did a great job. At least on our car, there was no uneven spaces between the film and the edge of the window, the job was perfect. They are in Novato though... pretty far North.

They were really nice too... super helpful and seemed very knowledgeable. If that's too far for you, maybe try one of the other Formula One Dealer from their dealer locator.
I can honestly say that the quality of the Formula One film and the installation was far superior on my wife's car than on my car... which was done by the dealer recommended place. They were a small shop that had some dude pull up with rolls of film and I had no idea what he was putting on. Live and learn I guess.

I used East Bay Auto Spa in Walnut Creek (also one in Antioch). Very happy with the work and the owner of the shops! I went with them because of the life time warranty they give, not too uncommon with window tinting, but they also do the 3M Xpel clearbra and offer a life time warranty on that as well. The most I've seen with anyone else is 5 years.
