Programming

I'm semi-aware of the programming options for the wipers and turn signal. Are there other items I should be aware of that the dealer can program prior to delivery? Thanks.

Mine came pretty well set up...I don't think the dealer touched a thing. The only item I changed was switching the turn signal to "3-blink" mode.

You don't need the dealer to do it; you can change options yourself, and it's easy.

Do tell, LynnEl. How do you change the turn signal to "3-blink"?

+1--just remember that the car has to be running for some of them.

I don't remember, but I turned off the 3-blink thing. I haven't changed any settings in a while. It's in the manual, though.

Phil, they are indeed, all user programable. You might want to ask your dealer to enable one touch sunroof opening, although they probably won't do it. Standard in the U.K.

Well unless you got a crappy software version like me. I can't get to any of the menus. Car is going in for service tomorrow. I can't turn the daytime running lights off, mess with turn signals, parking lights, pretty much anything and to top it all of the auto-headlights stay in auto mode no matter which position I put the stalk in, so I can't turn on my headlights (low beams) during the day, or turn them off at night if the engine is running.

Edit: As long as I'm bitching I should add that my sunroof rattles too.

I just picked it up a few days ago, June 30th, I think I was week 23 or 24. I figured I could program the daytime running lights so didn't bother with that. Didn't notice the headlight thing until it was dark out and wanted to turn off the lights so I could program stuff, and ummm... realized that I can't program anything. And noticed the rattle yesterday.

Anyone get the "Mind Meld With Your MINI" email? It was from MINI USA on behalf of my dealer. It linked to a form on the MINI USA site where I was able to request a few things to be preset when I pick it up, like 6 radio stations and daytime running lights.

I didn't get that email, but the only preset they did input was the one I wanted (purely by chance, they didn't ask me about it).

I didn't get that either, would have been nice.

I got that email. We'll see if the programming is what I specified when I get it.

Coffeeman, are you able to confirm that NA-spec MINIs are in fact programmable? Noone I've spoken to has stated that it can be done.

Thanks.

Only if you have one of the double secret programmable Minis.

All US spec MINI's are fully user programmable. The manual will explain everything but in reality your MA should because it's their job.

The exceptions are the '07 convertibles, since they are of the older design, and won't have their facelift until '09.

The manual doesn't explain how to program a sunroof to open or close with one-touch. It's just not an option that I can see.

My Dealer told me it's for "safety" reasons!? If so, how come EVERY other BMW with a sunroof has one-touch open/close? When I asked him this, he just shrugged it off. He even told me he spoke to a BMW engineer in Germany who confirmed that it's not possible to program on a NA-spec MINI.

Many people have said that it's programmable on this and other threads, but has anyone ever done it? If so, how?

Oh, and it's not a convertible

Thanks!

It's not available in the U.S. My BMW does it, too, but who knows what lurks in the minds of the attorneys...

Ditto windows.

I wonder if a UK-sourced switch or other part could be ordered, installed and configured on a NA-spec car to get this working? And the windows too while I'm at it (or at least the Driver's window).

Sitting with your shift hand on the toggle switch while driving away from a toll booth is quite unsafe! I wonder if the attorneys thought of this!

I dunt(tm) care what anyone says. Romi is not programmable. I have probably burned at least one tank of gas idling just trying to change any option at all. It ain't happening. It does not do what it says in the manual at all.

Everyone on NAM tried to help, but to no avale. It just aint gonna happen.

Fortunately, it aint a big deal to me. The default configuration is good enough.

Can't your friendly MA do it with you watching? S/he should have taught you.

Skuzzy, you wouldn't be starting another whining thread, would you?
