My "friendly MA" told me that it's impossible to do on my car. This was at the dealership in person.

Yup - 2007 R56 MCS with auto climate, power fold mirrors, bluetooth, premium, sport package, etc. Ordered in June 2007, built in August (so I'm told) and picked up last week.

I'm in Toronto, Canada. The dealership is one of the biggest in the country - BMW Toronto. They're usually quite knowlegeable about these things, or at least they have been in the past with other cars (including our previous MINI).

I dunno--is there a difference in Canadian cars? Doesn't seem likely. Have you asked the service manager? Or called ASK-MINI? What does the manual say?

I've spoken to the service manager and called ASK-MINI, both to no avail. The manual doesn't have any instructions about this functionality. If someone has some instructions from their manual, I'd love to see them!

As far as I know, the differences between US and Can cars are the km/h speedometer and daytime running lights. The packages are also slightly different. Oh, and Canadian cars seem to be far more expensive!

Is this in relation to programming all options or the one touch sunroof?
The US spec manual is available on motoringfile.com and has the instructions for the daytime running lights, remote door unlock, etc, etc.

Thanks for the reference, here's the manual:

https://ol.miniusa.com/publications/...NI_Hardtop.pdf

Here's what it states (no one-touch):

With the ignition switched on, press the switch back beyond the pressure point. Both closed sunroofs are automatically raised.

Opening, closing

With the glass sunroof raised, press the switch back as far as the pressure point and hold it there. The front glass sunroof opens. The rear glass sunroof is closed. Releasing the switch stops the movement. The glass sunroof can be closed in the same way

By comparisson, the 2002 MC/MCS Manual states:

Automatic opening

Push the switch back past the point of resistance: The sunroof opens completely. Touching the switch briefly during opening stops the movement immediately.

Fortunately, it aint a big deal to me. The default configuration is good enough.

Huh, why were you idling at all trying to program your MINI? It's supposed to be done with the engine off. Just press the start button without stepping on the brake, might need to hold it a bit, till the car comes on. Course, you do have your key fob inserted. Not going to work without it. Then you can start programming your car.

Um, my MA said the engine had to be on to program some stuff, and I found this to be so. I *think* it even says this in the manual.

I did the 3 blink, unlock on one side only, no daytime running lights, and some other stuff I can't remember.

Because for many of the programming options the car has to be running, according to the manual.

I have comfort access. Not even sure the fob will fit in the slot. Of course, maybe it will and maybe that I do have to do that. Not sure. The manual is not clear on that.

I cannot recall if I ever tried putting the fob into the slot. If that is the case, I will skip trying to program her. Last time I drove a Mini with the fob inserted in it, it had to go to the dealer to get it removed.

My MCS week 36, must have the engine running and all three doors fully closed, to do the programming. One door ajar and it won't work.

Me too... I've tried until I was blue in the face but it just doesn't work for me either (week 34 build). I have to use the actual key (not the key fob) in order to get comfort open/close to work at all. Bummer!

For those who dont know how to

For 07 R56 this is how you use the convenient opening from the FOB and using the Key

Hold the unlock button down on the Key Fob.
The power windows are opened and the glass
sunroof* is raised.

You must hold it the button down the whole time or it stops

Convenient closing is not possible by
means of the remote control.

Using your key you turn to unlock and hold it in the turned position (to the left), everything starts to open and you must hold it in the unlocking position until everything is open or it stops in the middle of it. To close everything you turn your key to the lock position (to the right) on the door until everything is closed.

Useful to know if your battery goes dead in the FOB, open the car with the key and pop the dead FOB into the slot in order to start the car before you get a new battery to put in it.

Actually, the Owner's Manual clearly states that for those with the Convenient Access feature, the comfort open AND close option works by simply holding down the (little black) button on the door handle.

However, I can't get it to work like that. Also, it doesn't work by holding down the button on my key fob either. The ONLY way I've been able to get it to work thus far is via the actual key being placed into the door handle (both open and close work just fine that way for me).

I would call the SA and have him make a note in your file, and the next time you have your Mini at the dealer....... have then find out why it is not working.
Both the key fob button and door handle buttons work on Skeeter.

Thanks Tharkun. The car is scheduled for service tomorrow morning and I'll ask about it. Maybe it's just me...

It's not just you. I have build week 34 too. C.A. open works from the fob. To close all windows, you must use they key-method. I'm going to mention this when I go in too. I'm guessing it's some liability thing (closing stuff when you can't actually see if someone is hanging their head out the sunroof, etc).
