R56 My 2 cents on Cooper vs Cooper S
Carmax only has 4 total Toyota dealerships offered on its site, countrywide. So no, that's not the "largest selection of dealers". For some reason they list the Yaris's invoice cost as $850 higher than the MSRP that Toyota themselves has posted on their Yaris site. Edmunds isn't trying to sell you cars, it is trying to do research on average sale values. What you claim you are interested in.
I just dont' see the point in arguing with your weird math.
Fine, if you only shop at CarMAX and you can't be bothered to look for a Yaris without options (even though there are only two options packages total!) then there's about $2,300 difference between the cheapest Corolla and Yaris (which is actually a lot of cash compared to the $12,000 for the Yaris).
You asked for linkage. According to Toyota there are 22 dealerships within 30 miles of DC (link: www.toyota.com/yaris/) and many, many more if you extend your range to 50 miles. First one I clicked has a Yaris for $11,996.
As a side note:
Average Yaris customer review on Edmunds: 9.4 (same as the MINI I believe)
Average Corolla review: 9.0
A lot of people are happy with their Yaris's (Yari?). The Corolla is a good car too but even if you only allow a $2,300 difference, the Yaris does a lot of things better for a value shopper. It's a fine car, perfectly adequate for most situations and it is going to be a significantly cheaper car to own in the long run (if you consider several thousands of dollars to be significant).

Ok, all done hijacking.

Driving my MC has been a driving experience like no other. The lightening fast acceleration and incredible maneuverability are like nothing I have ever experienced in any other car. Everyone who rides with me is impressed by its looks and incredible performance. I find myself doing 55, even 65 in tight turns that I would slow to a crawl to complete in other cars! It’s as close to driving a 911 as you can get for 25k.
Huh? your comparing a tiny front engined, FWD hatch to a rear engined, RWD car? They dont handle even remotely alike
With handling characteristics not even remotely alike, huh?

Don’t get excited!
Judging from the mailslot in the nose of the MINI in your sig, are you referring to an MCS?!?!
I think Chow's 911 vs. MC(S) discussion is far more interesting. At least there's more to talk about. The bulk of the difference for this thread is one thing: Turbo. All the rest is just minor features and options.
Ok, back to the 911 discussion...
Ok, back to the 911 discussion...
turbos make torque--torque feels good. However, the non aspirated 997S explodes out of corners with a little encouragment from the accelerator. The Turbo P car must be ridculous.
I am thrilled to have the R56 MINI S (even w/ auto) as my daily driver with a dose of racing VW to stir the pot.
I looked at Porsches for many years before I got the chance to pull the trigger. I am not dissapointed. Its way more sports car thean the M-3 ever was.

I never compared a 997 against a MC(S) ... that was CeeTee
the cars are so different in EVERY aspect I can't even imagine how he compared them ... as Emtry said
I guess I get what he was trying to say ... I think
Aint this thread dead yet
MCS = $22K. 997S = $80K? Is 997S 3 times better? No. Does 997S make 3 laps on the track while MCS does 1 lap? No. But, if they were both offered for free, more than three out of four people will choose 997S over MCS, including myself even if I have to sign a contract prohibiting me from selling the car within 5 years after getting it for free.

nice porsche...can't afford one though
(
but if someone was gona give e a free MCS or a free porsche
it goes with out saying i'd take the porsche....that's if it's comfortable as a daily driver..... i drive at least 40k a yr.
but.....i thought this was thread was about the difference between a MC and an MCS. to which i still stand by....the difference is astounding (between my 04 mc and my 07 mcs) maybe the new MC is betterer than my 04 was....
later gators
