I will be air-brushing stripes on Romi. I want a custom look. I have narrowed it down to a couple of designs I am still playng with.

I built an NFR in the configurator with white roof/stripes (gotta have white), and it looked nice too. Hmmm... maybe an MCS isn't in order for me after all...

dwjj....I had a lot of hesitation on NFR when I first saw the european pics...but now that Bubbles is here, I love the color! Everyone asks about it, they think the color is really striking. I have the black roof and stripes, which is an odd combo when you think about it, but it's great. I really like the white roof with stripes too!

Yeah-somehow I'll have to make sure I see one before I decide. There's really only a couple colors that grab me. Nothing like seeing them in person. It's tough when the closest dealer is so far away, and most the ones I see around here are grey or red.

I have to do a white roof though. The heat here is just a killer.

No ya don't. It won't make any difference. It won't make Texas any cooler and it won't make the car any cooler either. Anybody who tells you that doesn't know the science behind heat transfer. When it's hot outside, it gets hot in the car (no matter what color it is). Get the color you want!

Yes, we're PW/B and it hit 94 degrees today. I didn't notice it any hotter than the silver Dodge Ram 1500 hemi we had 3 months ago in the heat. And the nice thing about the Mini is it cools off quick once you start him up. I guess its because he takes up a lot less real estate.

We did have an all black Honda del Sol VTEC once. OMG, when the top was off and u hit the high temps, forgetaboutit. The a/c sucked (literally) so u had to put the targa back on to give the air a chance. Even with the top on, it was an oven. Loved that car, though - JR super charger, Greddy header, catback, performance clutch(dont' remember the type number), PowerStop brakes, suspension mods, etc. Cried when we sold it back a few years ago, but where we live, the weather was non-condusive, and I was afraid it would get jacked at work as well. It was a vehicle that deserved to be driven, often and well. Got a decent amount for it and hopefully it still lives somewhere.

Love my MCS, love the TurboCharger, love it all!! Fortunately the demand for Mini parts is lower, so I feel better about bringing it to my workplace as compared to Honda.

I don't think the black roof makes any (or very little) difference in the inside temperature; however, window tint helps a lot to keep out the heat. Moritz in Arlington gave me a free window tint. You might try negotiating for the tint.

Hmmm. For (mumblemumble) years I'd always assumed black car=hotter inside. The paint surface gets hotter, so of course it must make the inside hotter.

You started me thinking, though (ouch). Most of the heat gain is through the glass (bring on the tint!). Did some googling
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...r.2d3b24f.html

One person referred to a more controlled experiment by mythbusters-black was 10 degrees hotter inside, heated up faster
http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2005/10/e...s_reviste.html

Another one talked about a local news story that did a test and got a 5 degree difference
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...ostid=39034138

So it turns out one of those basic assumptions I'd always had was off, and it only makes a little difference (it does make some difference, though). The tint helps a lot more. So thanks for prompting me to revisit that!

Likewise Dennis, I think the black roof and bonnets make the color even better, heat was never a factor in my decision!

Does Love Shak have the ext chrome? You're missing some pieces then! But it's a wonderful looking car! Looks familiar from somewhere?
It's The Clockwork Orange option.
