Gotham Grey Interior Question

I am contemplating getting the Gotham Grey interior option for the side panels as I think I like the look and it might brighten up the interior a bit. In the configurator, it appears to change the color line along the dash as well. Is this true or do you still get the checkered? If it does change, what does it change to and what does it look like? Pics would be appreciated if possible.

It is the one mystery of my car. I have never seen the "Gotham Gray" interior, but gambled and ordered it with my Mini. I still have not seen it and the configurator cannot be trusted to show the correct colors or interior layout.

My thinking was as yours. I wanted the interior to be a little lighter and brighter.

The actual dash (top portion) is a flat textured black. The colorline is about half way down and lines up with your knees. It's more of a true grey. It looks very good with Piano Black. It really doesn't brighten up the interior, but rather complements the MINIs interior. Photos in NAM are scattered throughout are a better indication.

I have the gotham grey. It isn't anything very exciting, but it evens out the color overall and looks VERY good with the Piano Black. I think if I were doing it again, I'd also add the anthracite liner and go completely dark inside. I didn't realize there was such a difference between the standard grey and the anthracite, you couldn't tell on the configurator, and the day I was at the dealership, it was so rainy I could barely see the difference between an MY and a CR.

Yes, the anthracite headliner adds a lot to the car. It's a huge improvement over the light grey.

I prefer the light gray myself. Dark interiors make me feel like I am in a cave.

I agree with you Skuzzy.

The ultimate question does not seem to have been answered though. When you just select the Gotham grey, I am wondering what the line is that used to be checkered as a default with the normal interior. I understand it looks good with piano black, but I am wondering what you get if you don't order a custom color line. The color does seem to change in the configurator, so I just want to know the new color or if the configurator is operating in the bizzaro world.

Go to the MINI USA site and look at the complete specs. The color line has a dark grey option which is $200. I believe it's a higher quality trim rather than the standard covering on the lower dash. So, two greys one that is standard while the other costs extra.

Standard Color Line?

Anybody have a picture of the standard gray color line? Or a description of the surface? Is it hard plastic or does it have a similar soft texture as the upgrades?

Thanks,
Gary

I have the standard grey trim in my car but don't have a pic. The covering is the same as the others. I don't think you would notice the difference in greys unless you could compare them side by side. I think the standard is slightly darker than the optional. Unless you are getting one of the other colorlines save yourself the 200 bucks and put it toward something else.

Look in my gallery. Romi has 'Gotham Gray' with the default colorline.
