2 option questions...

Should I get the mudflaps and are they a dealer installed item?
Also, would chrome mirror caps look better with the dark silver body and roof or should those be dark silver as well? Gosh there are just so many options to choose from.

Definitely go for the chrome caps. IMO, unless you have the different color roof it's better.

I'm sure you'll get a better answer, but you should be able to tell about the mudflaps by where they are on the configurator. The last page is all the dealer installed options.

If you want the chrome caps, buy the chrome exterior package. The caps alone are $150 (a rip-off IMHO), while the whole package is $250.

I think a chrome bonnet scoop would look good with the chome mirror caps. Not part of the chrome exterior package though.

Mudflaps are a dealer installed item. Or, you can install them yourself. It does require removing the wheels. Some dealers are charging a fortune to install them. MINI of Mountian View wants about $220 just for installation.

Look through the photos of MINIs posted on this forum. You will find some with chrome mirror caps. Which is best is a personal preference. I was thinking about carbon fiber mirror caps and hood scoop for a Pure Silver MCS, but the cost...

No mudflaps, no chrome.

Okay, I will forego the mudflaps and most likely get the chrome mirror caps.
I'm hoping the alarm system will indeed be available on June 1.

I like how the crome exterier package looks. It contails the mirror caps, a trim ring around the front and rear lower grills, and tcrome on the boot handle.

I got the mudflaps and I am glad I did. The dealer tried to pull a fast one on me, claiming the rear bumper would have to be removed, which was total bull. The only reason you need to take off the rear wheels is to have room to screw in 2 screws. Takes about 20 minutes, if you work slow. I'd just buy the flaps and put them on myself.

Mine is coming through with chrome mirrors, but I'm having the dealer switch them for black caps. A little too much chrome for my taste. Dark Silver/Black MCS

Thanks for the recommendation on installing the mud flaps myself. I may get them after taking delivery of the car and do it myself.

I have never felt the need for mud flaps in the 2.25 years of ownership.......as for chrome mirror caps...

I actually spent some time and built your car on the config.

I can't say a agree with the chrome mirror caps...but I don't like the DS either...

Consider this......

IMHO mirrors, license plates and radio antennas are all items that tend to ruin the design of vehicles....they are important, but in the way none the less.

Being that you spec'd out such a dark vehicle what about blacking out the mirrors? Due to the lack of color between the belt line and the roof you could minimize the apperance of the mirrors by buying black mirrors.

I liked the look of this....you may not...feel free to take a look.

Either way....enjoy your MINI!!! and HAPPY MOTORING!!!!

I have, many times, felt the need for mud flaps on the car ahead of me!

I like the mirror caps to match the roof, but that's just me being a traditionist. As far as mudflaps go, I say....NO
