Hi Don- You'd hope there would be some remedy to help salve the situation. Haven't gotten that far yet. I'd hope there's more than "oops, looks like you'll have to get back in line".... that would be quite..... unacceptable...

I'm so sorry to hear it, Max. Have you tried contacting Mini USA directly? They have a bit more clout than your dealer does and maybe they can both give you a more thorough rundown of the details and a more favorable alternative to just getting back in the queue. Best of luck.

Hey yg, Yup, that's on the list of things to do... you might imagine I'm none-to-pleased, so I'd like to believe there's something that can be done...

We'll shall see.... thx!

LOL, ya if he didn't already have them all!!!! Didn't you even have the kitchen sink and small dinette feature too? just trying to keep it light in here for you Max!

I can 't imagine you would have to reorder and get in the queue again, after all, you do still have a car on order and they should be doing all they can to get it to you (ASAP). How it is handled and how it is presented here on NAM could affect some future business for your dealership, I'm sure they know that and will try to do what they can to help make things "acceptable". Good luck either way, keep us all updated. Hopefully, no matter what happens, this won't detour you from getting the Mini you wanted.

Well, I did not see the JCW options or a few mods via the dealer.

Ya, I know, your right, there are a few more thing available now. When we ordered, they weren't all available yet. Max, like myself, got a little click happy with the configurator and got just about everything available at the time but PDC. Was just trying to keep the mood light, I couldn't imagine getting that call after this wait. I, as we all do, feel for him and hope it gets worked out in a timely fashion.

Max,
I don't think it really was MAX!!! It was an impersinator(sp?). I bet all the other mini's on that boat are all saying "there was one real idiot car, looked like BMW or somthing, kept calling himself 'Max'....".

It wasn't him. The dist. center saw it right away during inspection. In fact, he wasn't the right price either!!!

Just picked up my LaserBlue/Black MCS. The color looks unbelievable in person, darker and with more "gotcha" than the configurator can show. I ordered a set of PIAA Sport Mesh Hyperblack wheels to install, as the stock crown spokes look "funny" against the LB/B color scheme.

The car is like a demented roller skate on steroids...can't wipe the grin off my face!!!

Well, I've got to say it is kinda bitter sweet now, knowing we lost one in the process. But I just checked the owners lounge and my delivery date has been update from 6/12 to 6/8. I would assume this has to be fairly accurate as for this to happen it must already be on the truck. The sad part is, I start my work week tomorrow and won't be off again until Tues. If all goes well, I will get a call from my MA in a couple days and I will be able to pick it up when I get off.

Max, have you really not heard anything yet? At least a new production #, just in case nothing else is resolved? Or is that even an option for you at this point? This can't be the first time this has happen, you would think they would already be putting another one together if they know the original can't be used at all?

No diet needed, Aeroguy... Lost as in urecoverable... Damaged somehow. I asked how, they said they didn't know. Just reported as damaged beyond repair. Regardless, no Mini for me.

I know we asked before but WHAT are they going to do to make you happy? They should do a nationwide search for one configured like yours. Something!

We feel so badly for Max (which is the name of my MGB, btw) that I hate to rub it in that we picked up "Maxine" yesterday. After getting through the maze of paperwork and with the help and care of Amanda at South Bay Mini with both instructions and whom took some pics when my camera ate the batteries (kudos to Jennifer as well), we took off and dropped Max off at home and carried on in Maxine for 100 miles. I was intent on teaching my wife how to really drive since she's always had a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Loads of yelling and refusal until at lunch I drew diagrams of turns, the apex, picking a line, steering with the throttle, etc. Finally she got more comfortable and was taking 25MPH turns at 40. I know, the car should be about to take them at 60 but its a start.

I've owned a lot of cars having restored a ton of British cars. This one has a good spirit some cars I owned I turned in a month as they just didn't behave.

When it got dark I drove home which was the first time I drove the car. I was a little nervous until we got to the twisties near where we live. I was all set up to tear up the payment when on the first turn the car got bounced and my wife swore I hit the curb. I have never hit a curb in my life taking a turn. I felt horrible and asked if she heard metal scraping (there goes the wheels). When we got home she jumped out of the car to check. Nothing. I seriously doubt I hit a curb. It was probably a big pot hole. Whew!

Hey Nui, Great! I'm glad you got your mini!

Ummm, they did bump up the replacement order spot, so maybe end of July or early August instead of end of August... Search says you really wont find one outfitted like Max was... I'll see if I can get any resolution today. I'm guessing not. Seems odd, they make a ton of money on one mini, one would think the could soften the blow of their poor handling... losing even 1 of 500 in a week's production is very poor production quality. That's a high yield loss for shipping/handling!

Max, I'm a pretty easy going guy as long as things are handled proper. With that said, I would "expect" Mini to find/build another one that is exceptable to me in the quickest possible fashion (their computers have the capability of searching the whole nation for specs!). Accidents happen and I don't get upset about that, I get upset however when I run into sub par customer service and poor attitudes. For me, my decition would be based on their willingness to fix the situation at hand. Even if that means waiting another 5 weeks. After all, you're probably in the same boat as me and the car is/was showing up a month soon then expected.

What I would "hope" for is some sort of sorry gesture and knock 500 off the price or throw in some accessories for me. But not is be confused with "expecting" it.

You picked out a very unique color with all the options. I don't now that the same one will be out there, but I bet there are many color options that are fully loaded in the nation now if you are willing to consider other colors if the same is not available.

I would go into my dealer with an open mind and positve attitute and see what could be done. If nothing is acceptable, politely make some suggestions to see if they are flexible.

For me, I would be sticking with Mini as long as there was a good attitude because I wasn't considering any other cars. For you, it may be different. Good luck!
