I have to say that the interior looks sleek.
can somone clarify this for me. Is this an optional model or is it supposed to be the next generation MCS?
If you follow all the links in this thread, it appears to be a wagon concept vehicle. It is NOT the new MINI Cooper. (I hope.)

For all the people pointing out that this is a concept:

"Yeah, so? It is still ugly!"

The interior is the least likely aspect of this concept to make production. As others have noted, this is the traveller concept, not the MINI as we currently own it.

IMO, the front end is very close to what we will see on production models, and reflects the unfortunate influence of European pedestrian safety standards on the MINI's redesign. They have tried to mask the upright aspect of the front end by laying the headlight surrounds in an almost horizontal position, but the lithe, sexy look of the current model's front end is completely lost.

I fear that you are correct.

You are definitely right about the interior though. I remember way back when the mini was in concept form, and the interior looked just as crazy as these pictures. There is still a hint of the look they were going for, but they have to make everything functionally sound when it comes to the final product.

the traveller...wasn't that a outer limits episode?

--The front looks very jaguar-esque. For an elongated Mini it doesn't look that roomy and comfy. The boot doors opening up sideways is neat, but the boot doesn't look like it has that much more storage space. I'm wondering who they're targeting with this car? Couples with no kids who like to go on road trips with other couples with no kids? Seems like the only audience for this concept.

THE CONCEPT IS THE TRAVELLER.....NOT THE FRONT END

I don't care if you like the traveler CONCEPT or not.....That is the FACE of the new MINI.....Take a look at the spy shots. The 07 is going to be hideous If this is an acurate depiction of what will roll into production in 1 year

FWIW, BMW aim to grow the audience for the MINI brand, so in all likelihood, 'we' aren't the target market. They are aiming for people that haven't considered a MINI previously. I'm convinced that they will offer models much closer to the desires of the current crop of owners.

Having said that, I'm particularly underwhelmed with the front end, as I posted previously.

The European audience has a very different expectation than we do when it comes to interior space, and how to use that space. This concept seems to be addressing Euro considerations, IMO.

We'll all see in a few months, but personally I would be very surprised if you could not pretty much take the front of this and that is what you will see if you buy a 2007 MINI Cooper S coupe.

It looks awfully close to all the spy shots and to the interior mock ups we have seen pictures of. Too close to not be it, again IMO.

Thank you ! That is what I was thinking. Regardless of concept or not I am sure it shares alot with the 07 mini and that isnt a good thing.

I will agree though that some of the interior looks pretty trick !

I really really like the floating interior, and the hinges. Oh, and the seatbelt. THAT is a really nice feature, assuming your seat doesn't separate from the body of the MINI.

Beyond those... dunno. Have to see it in person. Perhaps this version of the MINI isn't as photogenic as the current. Bonnet looks fugly.

Where's the Woody?

OK folks - Get a grip; no one will pry your current MINI from your hands!

Listen to White Roof Radios Woofcast #11 for some sane reaction to this concept vehicle. There are some folks that may be interested in a MINI wagon; if the market is there, it will make other versions more likely.

Personally, I think this has some neat ideas but the overall look doesn't do it for me at all. I'd heard that the concept car was going to be based on a '49 Ford Woody. That I'd like to see.

It would be interesting if this were an AWD platform.

Saludos!

?????

Why? its a "concept"? Nothing personal but if you ever go to a car show, there are lots of concept cars. Some make it into production ... usually modified. Some don't.

I wouldnt get to upset ahout a few pics. Yep, its ugly (IMO) but to others it might be beautiful. To each their own.

I doubt it will look this "ugly" in production but, I could be wrong

i dont know, the last few concept cars i have seen look almost exactly the same as the production cars. ( IE HHR, Crossfire, Cobalt)

hopefully, the MINI will not have that fugly front end on it when production time rolls around.

on the other hand, i love the car from the front doors back!

MINI = very small
a Big Mini just doens't make a whole lot of sense to me.

And I hope the front end of the new Mini Cooper/S wont' look like this wagon version, its horrid.

I don't care about "there were bigger Mini wagons back in the 60s", they weren't good looking (and neither is this new version).

All personal opinion of course
