What work would you do IN CONJUNCTION with engine replacement?

Hello,
I have a 2008 R55 Clubman S that is getting a newer engine. While the front is off, and engine is out, what addition work would you do to take advantage of easy access to engine and engine bay?

I plan to replace engine and trans mount, water pump and timing, and PCV.

anything else you recommend?

thank you,

If any A/C system work is required, then do it when the engine is out.

Not sure if you're pulling the subframe out, but if so it's a great time to address all the associated bushings.

Only other bits that are easily accessed with the engine out are the heating hoses.

Yup, I would do a subframe refresh with new poly control arm bushings and poly sway bar bushings. Also give consideration to clutch replacement. Parts are cheap once the engine is out. Manual transmission? Maybe add an LSD swap, too. How far do you want to go?

The bushings seem like an excellent idea - thanks to all. And I can afford that. After all the ones in there are 17 years old and over 120k miles.

it is Automatic Transmission.

I recommend the PSB bushings for the control arms. They have a much lower cost than the Powerflex product, and I can say the installation is relatively easy. You will need to have some sort of bushing install tool/press to install ANY bushing in to your existing housing; if you don't have this capability, then I'd recommend buying something like this>

Well - the rebuild has started.

all seems to be going well. Fresh belts, chains, gaskets, etc going onto the “new engine”.

now I have a shell of a R56, sans engine and trans

any ideas as to selling?

thank you in advance and thank you for the rebuilding advice.
