I own a 2009 mini clubman base that I bought about 5 months ago. The car had issues mostly cosmetic (or so we thought). About 2 weeks after we bought it the check engine light came on. Scanned the code and it returned p115c which corresponds to a lower air intake than expected. We replaced the mass airflow sensor and I was good for 3 drives, then the code came back. We then took it back to a shop and had both vanos solenoids replaced. That lasted for another 3 drives. We then put on a k&n intake. It seemed to fix the issue for a while, but the code will still come on intermittently with more spirited driving. It drives fine while the engine light is on with no noticable dips in power. Our mechanic advised us that to truly get the issue resolved we should get the ECU flushed. What should we do you solve this issue?
The code means the measured airflow is lower than expected when compared to the engine rpm and throttle input.
Make sure the MAF sensor is installed in the correct orientation. There should be an arrow on the side indicating air flow direction. The arrow should point towards the throttle body.
Also check the intake tubes and manifold for leaks between the MAF and throttle body, and the intake manifold.
There is also a plastic PCV tube that goes from the back of the cam cover tot he intake manifold. This tube is know for cracking as it ages. I would check it for cracks and leaks, and plan on replacing it.

Please don't flush your ECU down the toilet. Not sure how that will help???
