AC line from evaporator to compressor

So........
My wife told me her mini's ac quit working while driving from Nashville to Atlanta. I took it to work and hooked it to the ac machine and pulled a vacuum which the car held for over an hour. Refilled the system... AC worked fine. Three days later, No AC again. So I brought it back to work, and hooked it up. I could hear a hiss behind the passenger wheel. I pulled the wheel off and found the the metal part of the line between the compressor and where the rubber line starts had rubbed on the drive shaft to the point that it had rubbed a hole in it and had a dent about 2 inches further towards the rubber section where the sway bar has been hitting it. It is still clamped into the holder that is kind of in front of the crankshaft pulley.

I've ordered a new line, but has this ever happened to anyone else? Also, any gotchas to watch out for replacing that line?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,
Ya, this happened to me as well. Wore a hole right through it. It's not that difficult to change. Just takes some time.
