R55 Cooling fan replacement
Cooling fan replacement
Cooling fan does not run on either low or high speed. When disconnecting the power connectors I found that one of the 2 pins from the fan connector had broken off in the harness (female) connector. I'm guessing the fan shorted, fried the pin, and melted it in the female connector. I know I can get the female connector #12527514236 from the dealer, but is replacement as simple as clipping the old female connector off and plugging the wires in the corresponding slots?
On my build thread, I had to relocate the fan due to me running a custom intercooler pipe with an HKS BOV. I just bought a universal 10" fan, cut all the plastic shrouding and cut and spliced the 2 factory wires to the universal radiator fan. Easy peasy. So technically you don't need a connector is what I am saying ot you can make your own with crimp bullet connectors
