I'm looking at a 2014 R55, nonS, manual. It has 84k miles and selling for $10k. I'm wondering if this is a good deal? Anything I should look out for when I go take a look/test drive?

About a year ago I bought my 2011 Clubman S automatic from a guy in New York, on ebay. It had 60K on the clock. He had just replaced the timing chain and one of the VANOS actuators trying to chase down a CEL that he thought he got. (he did not). It needed a set of tires and a couple of other things that he did disclose to me. I paid another $1K for the tires and the work, as well as another VANOS actuator and a set of ignition coils to get the CEL taken care of so that it would pass PA inspection.
I thought $7K all in was a pretty good deal for the 2011. Now yours is a few years newer but it also has more miles. Biggest issue is the timing chain rattle, there are videos on youtube on what it sounds like. I didn't worry too much about that for mine since the PO had just had the chain done. Everything else you can chalk up to this being an 84K mile car
So to me $10K seems a bit high but if it's otherwise in really good shape I might go for it.

So many variables. One, used car prices are up this year: People cutting back, but also the stimulus, etc.Originally Posted by stabs

We just bought an R55 for a little under $10k (originally listed for almost $12k), 2014 w/ 55k miles in good condition, minus a dent in one of the rear doors (that we can hopefully get popped out) and it was in a minor fender bender previously (that was fixed).
So, I'd say the car you're looking at is in the ballpark, but $8k-$12k wouldn't surprise me having been shopping for the same-ish car over the last few weeks. Depends what it's history and options and local availability are.

I'd regard that as an $8k car, at the very mostOriginally Posted by stabs

Neutral
I bought my 2009 Clubman S last September after shopping for almost a year. I was surprised at how scarce decent Clubmans were in SoCal. I had to drive to Santa Barbara (2 hour plus drive from my home) to buy mine. If you are willing to buy from a dealer (I was not) the selection is a little better buy still not great.

Exactly why it's tough to put an exact price on what something should cost. If you're looking for something relatively specific, you can say, oh, this is $500-$1000 too high! And then have to wait another several months for another similar one to show up. Or travel to get one that costs you $500 in time and effort.Originally Posted by Redmere58
