I'm Back... 2009 Clubman JCW

Hello everyone. I am back in the Mini world but Mini-less. I just bought a 2009 Clubman with the JCW Package.

After doing some research after the fact, I didnt know about the Engine issues with the timing chain .

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q0yvupim4hamjmd/SIM110207.pdf Shows the affected time frame to be from May 4, 2009

Looking on bimmer.work vin lookup, my Mini went into production on May 19, 2009.

It has 76,xxx miles on it. Taking it to the dealer soon to pull the service history.

Anything else to check for if this update has not been carried out yet?

Welcome. I also have a JCW Clubman. The key to making it reliable is regular maint, good fuel and driving it hard.

Check into the HPFP...high pressure fuel pump....it's probably functioning okay right now, but it would be good to know if it has been replaced. You will want to know if the water pump and pipe have been replaced....if not, consider just doing it. Have them inspect it for oil leaks....esp around the oil filter housing/oil cooler seals, valve cover, vacuum pump, and turbo oil lines. If the valve cover hasn't been replaced, you can expect to replace it before too long. The transmission has "lifetime" lube....change it if it hasn't been changed.

The N14 has a reputation, but if you maintain it, it can be a good engine.

Had our 2009 Clubman S since new and have replaced all of those items. No plans to replace it any time soon ... great car as long as it's maintained.
