R55 Fumes in Cabin when idling?
Fumes in Cabin when idling?
I have searched and searched and I can't find a definitive answer..
For the past couple of months I have been smelling what I thought was burning oil whenever I am stopped and I have the outside air circulating. As soon as the car is moving at speed again the smell is gone.
I have had the car into the shop for multiple oil leeks, a line that feeds the turbo, the valve gasket and a cracked oil filter housing.
Its been a week since the last repair and I have driven PLENTY for any residual oil to burn off and the smell persists.
Im now wondering if I'm smelling exhaust or fuel?
If anyone has any recommendations or similar experiences I would love to hear some input. I will be getting back in contact with the shop when they open back up after the holidays in January but I'm looking for any answers it sucks to have to turn off the air every time the car comes to a stop to avoid the car being filled with noxious fumes.

Sounds like you still have a leak of some sort, whether it be an exhaust leak from the downpipe gasket at the turbo, or another oil leak. Either way you need to get it inspected or on a lift to see what is going on, you shouldn't have any funny smells like that under normal operation.
I just had my '13 paceman JCW in for the same thing. But I think I'm smelling raw gas. It hasn't happened since the weather has gotten colder, so it seems to happen on warmer days, Air On, parked and especially if I'm in and out on short errands. Goes away as soon as I drive. The dealership could not reproduce the odor (of course it was cold out). But they said it could be the rich exhaust that the JCWs have. I'd rather smell gas than be killed by carbon monoxide, but either is not a good thing.
