Wastegate Actuator Question

Hi - Not sure if this is the right place for this question so please let me know.

I'm having a problem with the wastegate actuator in my 2009 Clubman S. I've been told that the entire turbo charger needs to be replaced vs. just replacing the actuator. Does this sound right??? It's a $2300+ repair so hoping to find a better solution.

Thanks in advance!

It really depends on what the issue is. If it’s the wastegate itself, yeah, you need a new turbo, although it is possible to just swap out the hot-side and keep your compressor if it’s working still. I think JMTC still sells the exhaust housing with upgraded wastegate.
If it’s really just the actuator that’s bad, it makes no sense (except for the shop $$) to replace the turbo. You can absolutely just replace the actuator. Also sold by JMTC. I’m sure you can get them elsewhere too, but I know I saw them on their website when I was buying a new turbo.

For that price you could get a beefed up new turbo and install it, yikes! I know Gpopshop can repair turbos easily, around $600 for them to upgrade the internals and extra 100 for broken wastegate flapper valve. JMTC also as said above sells the exhaust housing and wastegate. But this absolutely should not cost 2500, you are being ripped off.

P.S. Contact a man named "MarioKart" on here, he often has leftover used good condition turbos from tuning peoples cars and sells them for cheap. Probably your cheapest option.
