Hi
I would like to get a new phone mount (iphone) for my Clubby. I am currently using one that I stuck on the speedometer.
Does anybody have a suggestion for one. Been thinking about a cupholder phone mount but I think it is not very safe to look down when using the phone to navigate.
Thanks a lot
-Siri
I haven't added one for my Clubman yet, but I installed a Pro-Clip on my wife's Countryman. Very solid, seems to be well made, and it sits just to the left of the Center Speedo/Connect screen. Charging port at the bottom, and the mount will rotate 90 degrees if you want to lower the phone's profile in the vehicle instead of vertical only.
I think I have a pro clip ?? It goes in the CD slot and use a magnet for easy removal and you mount any direction you like, since I have NEVER put a CD in my car I finally have a use for thing.
I love my iOttie, works perfectly - I situated it so I can just reach a finger out to touch it for Waze, etc. Stable, never fallen off in 8 months, adjustable:
Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I am currently using the iOttie, I like it for teh sturdiness but would love something a bit more out of the way.
Has anybody tried a phone holder that clips in the top vents?
I've tried many options, my favorite so far is the vent clip w/magnet approach. I'm using the Okra brand right now, it's small and unobtrusive on the vent when the phone is not mounted. The magnet for the phone is about as thin as a band-aid, and fits just fine inside the very tight-fitting plastic case. My iPhone 6 stays good and stuck to the magnet on the Okra, but the weight of the phone does the vent blades, and therefore the phone, to tilt down a little, and about once a week I have to pull the clip off and push it back on again to maintain a tight fit on the vent. It's not quite perfect, but I love being able to slap the phone onto it without a lot of fumbling with a dock. It's cheap enough through Amazon to check it out, and return if you don't like it. I might try the iOttie version with magnet as well, because I think the way the clip fastens on might stay on better. P.S. this is on a 2015 Countryman.
I use the Mountek nGroove which you can purchase on Amazon. It utilizes the CD slot to mount the phone. There is a little up and down play on the CD side of the mount in my Mini compared to using the same mount in my wife's VW Jetta which is more solid. I suspect that all the plastic in front of the CD drive on the Mini prevents the mount from entering the CD slot as deeply. But in any case it works well. The phone side of the mount is perfectly designed. The location of the mount using the CD drive is excellent.

Hold my gauge set with proclip magnetic, switch to iPhone when needing gps
I really like where you've mounted your phone with the Proclip system. But when I go to the ProClipUsa site their custom mount for the R55 and R56 Mini is further to the right between the speedometer and glove box. I've attached a picture. How did you get yours to mount in front of the CD player slot?

I have used the Mountek nGroove in the Mini, works well. Real well - given the price. But I ended up with the 'low' Craven Speed mount(s) - I use one for my Scangauge and one for the iPhone. I like how the Craven speed mount puts the phone right next the tach so its in my line of vision for GPS use.
Got this one off eBay. It was about $29.00 I think.
Uses stock bolt on seat track / pass side as mounting area. Slid the thick u-shaped lower attachment area under the rail and around the bolt and cinched it down. Similar fashion the center arm rests are mounted using the
bolts in the track behind the seat.
yeah I have the infinity one that goes into the cd player and the phone has a thin metal plate sitting in my iphone cover ....just place it on and it works perfect.
I use a Cravenspeed mount. I originally bought a XL scissor mount, fit my Nexus 5 just fine. Since I've gotten a OnePlus One, too big to fit, so I replaced the scissor with a XXL clamshell. Cravenspeed options look nearly factory, and positions the phone in a great spot if you're using it for navigation. It's a little pricey, but they do feel very high quality.
I'm a new 55S owner and I too went with the Cravenspeed mount and I'm very happy with the choice. It puts your device right at 2 o'clock and allows me to use the nav app, or switch tracks easily without having to take my eyes off the road. It's fantastic.
I have the Mountek nGroove and only use it when I have to. I dont like it. Driving a manual, I always find myself hitting it when moving my hand around. It also gets in the way of the radio *****. I am going to look into a sunvisor mounted option to mount it at left top corner of windshield since this is more eye level and much safer in my opinion.
I use the Cravenspeed scissor mount for my 2nd gen Moto X (no case) every day on my commute. I rely on Waze and I like the Craven mount because I don't have to turn my head to see an alert.
I use my phome for navigation and for the Waze Traffic app. Keeps it in view.
I hated the factory holder. Passengers always hitting their knees on the thing. Just haven't got around to removing the holder. Actually trying to think of a way to convert it to hold glasses.
I replaced that holder with two of the MiniFin cup holders. They hold drinks much more securely and can be adjust for height.
