plus the real deciding factor will be if I can fit at least my 56cm road bike inside with the seats folded (front wheel off of course), and hopefully my mtn bike... if I can't fit the road bike, it'll be the GTI... I have to to have the bike inside because of where I'll likely be parking while at work...
No problems with this. I fold down both seats and fits easily.
Why not get a roof rack for your bike(s) instead of stuffing them in the back of your clubman? It's way more functional, and less risk of tearing up your upholstery.

I don't feel comfortable leaving a several-thousand dollar bike on a roof rack while parked in a downtown parking lot while I'm at work...
