09 mini clubman worst car

My 09 mini was by far the worst car I have ever had. After the newness wore off the ride sucked it sucked in the snow multiple problems and oil burning. I was told they do that because they run hot 👎💩💩👎 a quart of oil ever 1000 miles👎💩💩. I had a dodge with 186000 on it not a drop of oil. The only good thing was gas other then that 💩💩💩💩. So I'm back in an American car . To all who think they should buy a mini think again they suck. 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩👎👎

I assume this was an "S" model, correct?

What did you do with the car, a trade in?

maybe its nice in other ways, lots of cars burns oil nowadays.............. Maybe a corolla will not burn oil but its nowhere near as fun to drive and full of character as a mini (part of the character is its reliability, or the lack of it lollllll)............

I've owned about 14 cars in my lifetime and with all of them that I purchased new, I slowly ran them up to redline within the first 100 miles. I've never had one that used any oil, including my 08 Clubman S. Also I've never owned anything that I would consider a "bad" car, just some that you have to stay on top of things a little more often. Currently, I also have an 01 Land Rover Discovery and that requires a lot more maintenance than anything else I've owned, but I still think it's a good vehicle.

Um, Jim, a quick question: is your profile updated? I thought I had the lowest mileage Clubman on these boards (well for a car over 5 years old). The odometer is JUST at 55,000 miles for my 09er. Are you really at 37,000 miles or in dire need of an update? And I wonder what the OP is doing (or not doing) that is probably influencing his problems. I've owned a 1989 Jeep Cherokee that was a roller coaster of headaches compared to the MINI. I've been to the repair shop only once for a recall and everything else was basic maintenance.

My mileage is up to date. I only drive the MINI in the summer months and the car gets waxed an put away in a heated garage for the winter. I'm hoping to make one more trip in it over Thanksgiving and then it will be stored for the winter. I also have a 2001 Land Rover Discovery with 67k on it and a 2000 Nissan Frontier with 86k on it. When you have 3 cars, the miles don't add up very quickly.

I'm a close second. May 09 build and just rolled 38,200. Similar to OP mine's had nearly $12000 of warranty work. Bad sunroof cassette. New AC. Bad comfort access. Bad transmission module. New alternator. I forget what else.

2011 cooper s convertible white pepper

The greatest car I ever owned, just enjoy the time you have with your mini
I'm working with NJ now with no luck .
The turbo wast gate will fail at 80,000 miles ,glad you asked the linkage will loosen sliding side to side and not being able to seat resulting no boost pressure,
and there goes your converter, oil every where. Did my homework my car was recalled with 89,000 others for the fire hazard with the computer circuit board controlling the turbocharger cooling system, resulting a smoldering water
pump, CNN money. now at 235,000 BMW BAMXF ,the turbos oil feed bearings
will get caked up and fail causing turbo failure. I was having to much fun when I hit the sport mode, my steering wheel tighten up my gas pedal is sensitive to the touch and me and ninny is on fire but not now I'm sick with a factory warranty 100,000 mile coverage that will not cover the coast for repair of 3,400 shame on BMW I approve this message.

Multiple service writers and techs at MINI have told me that 1qt/1000mi is within acceptable limits.

I love my car (which, being an NA R50 does not burn oil.) But I'm tired of hearing people make excuses for legitimate problems with this brand. You can like your car without being a blind loyalist. The R56 platform had many serious problems that a LOT of owners experienced, that shouldn't be swept under the rug.

Hopefully they improved things in the new platform.

My 2008 Clubman S just turned 38,000 mi. I top off the oil occassionally, use about quart in 5,000 mi. Recently it doesn't seem to use any. I change it once a year.

My 09 Clubman S is probably the second worst car I have ever owned. Something goes wrong literally every other month. Plus problems we just cant seem to fix. We have a engine light for the dtml pump circuit open. The dealer said the pump is ok, but the wiring is bad but we can't find a problem with the wire either...
We had the hpfp go, and they decided to do the carbon clean out before replacing the fuel pump. I guess that way they could charge us a bunch to do that. The oil supply line for the turbo had to be replaced. The timing chain tensioner almost fell off, luckily we caught it before it did. We are taking it in tomorrow for a coolant leak. Plus I live in WI and the car just doesn't want to run properly in below freezing temperatures. I would get rid of it in a minute if I could get what we have in it, but that isn't going to happen.

Enjoy it while you can.
Only less reliable cars I've owned were '60s-vintage Brit cars, a '67 E-type and (earlier) a '65 Triumph Spitfire that made the Jaguar seem like a paragon of reliability!

But neither of those cars used as much oil as my '09 Mini does. Must be that Peugeot engine - can the French do ANYthing right???
And the Brit cars were at least easy to work on - this Mini is a freakin' nightmare! You gotta have hands the size of Tiny Tim's to get anywhere near the engine - again, guess I shouldn't surprised, given who designed it.

It is fun to drive though...
