2009 Recalls????

Hi,
I'm the new owner of a 2009 Clubman S with 58000 miles. The last four digits of my car are TP72475. The build date on my car was 10/08.

Would be very interested from other owners of a similar car as to what recalls have been sent out on the car and which ones you've had done.

I spoke to my closest dealer and they told me of a few open recalls that need to be done on the car, but I always like knowing more than the dealer about this stuff before I go in with the car.

Finally, and I know this has been discussed AD NAUSEUM, but was there ever an official recall of the N14 timing chain that someone can give me a specific number of so I can discuss that when I bring in the car . . . . so far so good on my car with the timing chain noise (keeping fingers and toes crossed) however.

Thanks in advance to all my fellow, helpful NAM members.

Tom

What is the list of things that your dealer said it needed? I would make sure your timing chain tensioner is updated. I would get a print out from your dealer on what has been all serviced, replaced in your MINI. Then you have an idea what might need attention.

She said it had three open recalls:

1. split door strips
2. aux waterpump
3. turbo heat shield

Getting a print out of all the sevice, etc. is also a great idea . . . will do that.

Tensioner is also a priority . . . . just don't want to get fleeced by the stealership.

I have a 09 Club S also. Get the tensioner done even if you have no issues. If it has been done make sure they used updated parts. When I got my mini from a FERD dealer I took it to my Mini dealer and they took a peak at it to make sure the right parts were used as the orig owner of the car did the maint on the car at his dealer in Indy. Turns out they did it right. Another thing with these cars as I learned is that the back of the valves? They do not get gas on them and get carbon build up and eventually get your car to run crappy. I learned here that this issue is fixed by WALNUT blasting them I think it is. My car had it done at about 60k, so keep that in mind.
There is a warranty coverage on the High Pressure Fuel pump when it craps out, I think it is covered to 120k miles. If you get the check light of a ENGINE half black and half orange that most likely is the pump going out, mine was did that light 2x over the last 3 months so I took it in and they fixed it.

I am like you I hate dealers but I have to say that my Mini shop in Cincy is very good and very nice. It takes a lot from me to say that about dealer service depts.
